When Should You Throw Away A Liquid Foundation?

I know most makeup has expiration dates but some don't and I was wondering when you should throw away a liquid foundation.

As far as I know most foundations should be thrown out after 12-18 months! if you notice it has changed consistency and or scent throw it away.
