I'm planning on going to the salon to cut my hair & also dying it myself for my birthday. I'm wondering if I'm supposed to dye it first and then dye it or vise versa? I'm scared that if I cut it first the dye is going to damage my hair since the ends are freshly cut. thanks in advance!(:

It depends what you're having done. When I cut my hair short (I went from a bob to a pixie) I had to have the cut before the colour as any highlights can look spotty on very short hair if not done correctly. But if it's not going to be a dramatic change in length/ style then I'd dye first, unless you're doing something like an ombré where the length of your hair may impact how you do it.

I agree with Rebecca, if you're doing an all over dye. I say dye first and then cut your hair. but if you're planning on doing an ombré, etc. then cut first (:

Depends on the color placement your matching with the cut. If you plan on cutting it a lot shorter and you want a balayage or ombré then you wanna cut it so you don't waste product or cut it to a shape that doesn't harmonize well with the color placement. But if your just slapping on a single color then it doesn't matter.
