Hi guys
Had a quick questions what's the best place to start working if you love makeup? I went to makeup school about 4-5yrs ago and freelanced for less then a year because I started working at a clothing store so I worked weekends 😫 then I quit and got another job and I've been there for 2yrs and now I'm thinking of getting a full time job somewhere in the makeup industry but don't know where. If any of you guys work there let me know how jr is. What kind of questions do they ask you for the interview etc. what are the pros and cons I've been watching to many of those YouTube videos and some are kinda mean lol thanx in advance

I think ulta. Everyone at my ulta is friendly and it's the biggest buisness.

I would say Ulta too. You will help more people because in my opinion and experience it seems like people who know more about makeup go to Sephora and Mac. Also in Ulta there's hair and skincare products too not just makeup.

I would go for sephora. We don't have ulta here in Canada so I don't have any experience with that. But sephora has hair, skincare and makeup products so you get a big range, there's several brands that will provide training for you in it and maybe even guide you onto a job ladder at a certain company. A friend of mine went from sephora to working straight for mufe and ended up moving to their head office doing private event makeup for them. Plus you can do plenty of different types of makeup. I know at a sephora near me they have days where they'll do free themed makeup, a few weeks ago they did circus themed and it was super beautiful to watch, so if you wanted to do something more than just everyday type makeup you could adventure out.
But ultimately I would just apply at all three and see which staff and work ethic you like best. You can always say no if one offers you a job and you liked another better.

Thanx ladies! I know at Mac some girls come to you rude and you feel like not going back. Some of the Sephora girls are really nice and Ulta aswell but I don't know it's so hard to decide since I see great and bad things about Ulta and Sephora from previous employees on social media
