Does anyone know if Biotin actually works?

I suggest speaking to a doctor and getting a blood panel done to see if you have a deficiency before taking any vitamins or supplements.

It does, but I agree that you need to talk to your doctor before you start taking it. There is a risk of taking too much.

It is known to cause acne if you use it in too little of a dose.

I have used biotin. It works but at the same rate it made everything grow strange. My hair grew but it was weak and I had more leg hair than ever. I think you'd have to talk with your doctor and maybe look at alternatives depending on what your looking for.

I think it depends on the person.
I used it and it helped my hair grow a TINY bit faster but with my mom, it didn't work.
As far as the doctor, it's not completely necessary. There are rare occasions where people have issues when they take way too much but biotin is one of those vitamins (like vitamin C) that are water soluble which means whatever your body doesn't need or use will be flushed out.
Make sure you're drinking plenty of plain water. Coffee and teas can dehydrate you and may not allow you to flush out the excess biotin.
You don't need an absurdly large amount of biotin either. Don't let the large amount of mg per pill get you under the impression that it'll work better or faster because the excess will just be flushed out anyway

Biotin is EHHHH. I'm a manager for a vitamin company, use a product called Biosil. It's a silica based that works a lot better than biotin and is highly absorbable. I prefer the drops over the capsules. You can get it at Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, local co ops (most likely.) Cannot suggest this one enough!
