My nails are very weak and I'm trying to grow them out. Price is not to much of a problem because I'm willing to invest, but what are some good brands?

I honestly don't think I've noticed any working better than others, and I've tried a bunch. I mostly use Sally Hansen because nothing more expensive has worked better for me. For example, OPI nail envy didn't make my nails super strong, and that's pricier than Sally Hansen.

Oh and biotin! I started taking it for my nails, most people I feel like talk about it being good for hair, but I got started with it after I stopped getting my nails done (gel acrylics). I also kept them polished all the time because the polish helped them feel stronger. People say your nails need a break but this is just what worked for me. Revlon colorstay is a good polish that lasts and gives a hard finish.

You're welcome:) I've never done that, I just use a strengthener as a base coat. Either a base coat that is specifically a strengthening base coat, or just any old straightener and then I might put a base coat on top of it. If you do mix it I wouldn't do it in the polish bottle, do it in a separate container so if it doesn't work or changes the consistency or whatever of the polish, you haven't done it to the whole bottle.

I've used all of these:

http://sallyhansen.com/products/nails/nail-care/miracle-cure-severe-problem-nails

http://sallyhansen.com/products/nails/nail-care/thicken
http://sallyhansen.com/products/nails/nail-care/continuous-treatment-growth
And these cuticle oils that supposedly promote growth, who knows!

I usually use more than one at a time, I alternate between them when I change my polish.
