My hair is dryer than the dead grass outside in this drought season. It's stiff and overall gross to the touch. Thinking it was just split ends I got a hair cut today (a bad one too- uneven ends, cut it without washing it or getting it wet) and it feels even worse. I'll brush it and it will frizz up instantly at the bottoms and will get retangled in seconds.
What hair care products or regime will get my hair silky smooth for back to school?

Hair masks and oil treatments!! There's a ton hair masks out there that can help you deeply moisturize your hair. You can also do an oil treatment; put coconut oil in your hair, leave it in for a couple hours, then wash away with shampoo. And try not to brush your hair, use your fingers to get out the tangles, it'll help with the frizz.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
If your hair is that dry I recommend looking into a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner! I really like Paul Mitchell for those, you can get them at Ulta and it could be considered more expensive but you get what you pay for. Also, I would recommend using a leave in conditioner, It's a 10 is a really good leave in (Ulta has it) or you could try the brand Shuga which I think you can only purchase online. You could also do a deep conditioning treatment, It's a 10 also has a good hair mask, Unite does as well and you could do coconut oil too. As for the frizz you should try some frizz oil too.

I use a lot of color protecting shampoos that I had left over from my hair being colored. I'll look into all of this. Thanks so much :)

Leslie, from looking at your pictures (upon which I just creeped 😈) I see your hair is actually pretty similar in texture to mine. A year ago I went from normal soft shampoos to cero lather shampoo and I must say, it made a huge difference. Don't get me wrong, it's still thick and stubborn but now it is much softer and doesn't look dead in the ends as it used to. Besides, I wash it only once a week and even though, that's pretty gross, I've discovered that the longer you leave it alone, the faster it recovers.
