How do I even out my skin tone. It's putting a hole in my self esteem and feel uncomfortable in public setting.

I use Lush full if Grace serum and rose water toner and they really help. But giving it time also helps.
This time last year I had cystic acne and major scarring but now my skin is clear and my scars are fading.
Using a spf moisturizer really helps too because it prevents your spots from getting darker

Make sure you're exfoliating and wearing SPF otherwise they'll never fade. I've also started using the Ole Henrikson Truth Serum and I see such a difference in my dark spots and hyper pigmentation. It is pricey but definitely worth the price in my opinion, even if you just buy the travel size (:

Dark spots are from excessive melanin production in the skin. Melanin is produced by melanocytes, which typically release pigment when they are wounded or exposed to UV radiation, with the latter being the primary cause of what people know as dark spots.
You absolutely must include a broad spectrum SPF product in your routine and be obsessively diligent with application before you see *any* sun exposure. Even a few minutes of unprotected sun time will work to prevent the lightening of spots. Even sitting next to a window for a few minutes is exposing your skin to UV radiation.
After that, it is worth looking into a chemical exfoliant appropriate for your skin type. If you are dry and not prone to acne, look into glycolic acid or lactic acid. A good brand to start with is Alpha Skincare. If you are acne prone, look into a salicylic acid product. I recommend Paula's Choice, as they have a plethora of formulas incorporating this ingredient for different skin types.
Once you have the basics, you can look into incorporating ingredients such as Vitamin C, Niacinimide, Retinol/Retin-A products.
