-USE BRAND NEW NAIL POLISH: Anything older than a few months will be too sticky and clumpy to spread out in water to get a good result
-USE A HIGH PIGMENT NAIL POLISH: Unless you really want a pale-looking marble, use high pigment nail polish ie. nail polish that doesn't require several coats. The polish gets dispersed in water so it's not going to be as dark as the polish you choose, choose wisely.
-USE A WHITE OR NATURAL COLORED BASE: Otherwise the marbling won't "pop" like you want it to. I tried it with a darker base and you could barely see the marbling.
Tools that will be helpful that you won't see on youtube: a nail polish "eraser" pen (it's just so much easier and more accurate than a cotton swab. One false move with a cotton swab and you lose a smidge of that gorgeous marbling) a GLASS bowl: don't use plastic or styrofoam. It will melt because of the nail polish. Learned that the hard way. D'oh!
Lastly, your first attempt at marbling looks WAY better than mine! Mine was all over the place, but with practice and patience it CAN be done. However, the YouTube tutorial I saw made itlook soooo much easier than what it is. She must have done it like 1,000 times :P
