I'm getting my state ID today so I can get my learners permit. They take your photo, so I was wondering if any of you have ideas for outfit, hair, and makeup. Is it flash photography? If so, what can I do to avoid flashback? Thanks in advance!

Since this is the identification you'll be using in almost all situations, it should look as close to how you look at all times. Meaning don't wear heavy makeup because this photo has to look like you both with and without makeup. So I'd go for light makeup, maybe a lightweight foundation or even just concealer to spot correct, mascara, maybe fill in your brows if needed, warm up with some bronzer if you want, and a nude lip. Also keep in mind that any product containing sunscreen will cause flashback under flash photography. I can't remember if state ID photos use flash but better safe than sorry, right? Also maybe pull your hair back if it's long enough to do so. You want your face to be visible in the photo.

Thanks everybody!! I think I'm going to stick with a blue cotton button up that matches my eyes and brings them out, I've got a little pompadour to get my bangs out of my face and some loose beach curls (btw, my hair is a little bit past my collarbone, I recently cut a foot off lol) and for makeup I'm going to do light foundation, blush, bronzer, brows, and mascara. Thanks again!!

I like to use a little bit of lipgloss too, for a sheer wash of color. You don't have a dramatic lip color as sometimes it comes off as harsh. This is how my photo came out most recently

They didn't let me smile in mine lmao and you can't really see what you wear at all as it's just a head shot. I would just go about your makeup and hair as you usually do since any ID photo needs to resemble you on a day to day basis. Wouldn't recommend overly dramatic makeup
