I have tried it, or at least a dupe and I found that it didn't do much unless it was super dark. And even then it gave weird shadows because of where the light comes from. I remember thinking I went from 1 to 10 chins because of the shadow it caused at the angle to have a good selfie lol. It was also a very warm light which altered the way my makeup looked and it made my pale skin look very orange so it wasn't flattering to me. I'd rather just use natural light or a light that mimics it and that I can control the placement without it affecting the angle I want my photos at.

I think the best way to take makeup pictures on any phone is the rear camera, and not the front facing. Especially on iPhones, the rear camera takes gorgeous, crisp photos. I especially like to toggle with the High Dynamic Range (HDR) setting. It just makes still photos look so much more defined. Try it! It takes two photos- a regular and then the one used with the HDR setting and look at the difference.
