So with winter coming fast I'm trying to prepare my skin. My skin turns into a nightmare. It's extremely dry and flaky in the winter and this summer it hasn't gotten much better. Looking for a very hydrating face wash that will remove my makeup too. Something that will help with my flakiness so my foundation will look okay LOL any suggestions? I use cetaphil and it's nothing special on my skin...

Cetaphil isn't special to anyone's skin, so you aren't alone there.
You're going to need a gold exfoliator to take care of the flakiness and get the dead skin off. Peter Thomas Roth makes a strawberry one that my skin looovvveees.
For cleansers, Marula and Fresh both make good hydrating cleansers. Clinique makes one as well as a part of their hydration line I believe.

I love the stuff for an exfoliator, but not something to use every day. It does work wonderfully though!

Lush's Ultrabland is the best facewash for dry skin. It's a thick cream and it doesn't dry your face out like regular cleansers. It has a nice light pleasant smell as well. It actually keeps my face clear as well. I switched to another cleanser for a short amount of time and I broke out immediately. As soon as I switched back, it all cleared up. Can't recommend this facewash enough.
I wouldn't recommend a physical exfoliator for dry skin though, a chemical one would work much better.

The CeraVe hydrating cleanser is pretty good. Although, I never rely on just a cleanser to take off my makeup. I usually use the oil method prior to washing my face which also helps prevent the cleanser from drying out the skin since there's that oil residue.
Cetaphil is more for normal to oily skin from what I recall, it's a decent cleanser but not great for dry skin.
A good AHA product will help with flakiness as well. As far as moisturizer, the Cerave moisturizing cream is great.
I think Cerave is great for dry skin whereas Cetaphil is better for oily skin overall

I use rotate back and forth between Yes to Coconuts Melting Cleansing Balm & Burts Bees Cleansing Oil. Balm & oil cleansers are not for everyone in the sense, a lot of people just don't like the feel of them. Some will use them and then do a double cleanse afterwards. Which for me, would defeat the purpose of balm or oil cleanser due to my extremely dry skin all year round. I prefer the balm at night to remove make up and cleanse & the oil for morning to cleanse & remove any residual skincare from the night before. But I can use either for morning or night. That is just my preference.

I absolutely agree with Kari, The fresh Soy Face cleanser is great for dryer skin and also works amazingly well in taking of make up.

CeraVe! I use the Hydrating Cleanser and their moisturizers are great too. I used to use Cetaphil but it was wayyyyy too drying!

I agree with Aurora, the CeraVe hydrating cleanser is really good. My skin gets so dry that it starts to flake off and this cleanser has helped me so much!

Cerave hydrating is my favorite but like Aurora S. I use an oil/balm to remove my makeup then go on with CeraVe.

Listen I love skincare. Use burts bees cleansing oil to remove makeup or spf, and cerave hydrating cleanser is wonderful. A good night time moisturizer is the cosrx overnight rice mask, imo it's amazing.
