Do Sock Buns not work on layered hair?

I have tried many different techniques for doing sock buns, but none of them have turned out. I do have a lot of layers in my hair though. Am I doing something wrong? Or do sock buns not work on layered hair?

My hair is layered a bit too n yeah it works well just use bobby pins n try to hide them, and remember to start tucking ur hair at the front or u'll end up with a gap in the front
