Hi Zafira I would love to hear a little bit about the books and why these are your favorites? That would be great information to the users who are considering buying a beauty book!

As for Bobbi Brown and Rae Morris, they are fairly similar. They both have stuff like: what to have in you makeup kit, application techniques step by step guide on different makeup looks. If I have to chose a favourite out of those two, I'd have to say Rae Morris. She really goes info makeup application on all skin types from Asian to mature skins, or best colours to make your eyes pop, even makeup looks for different eye shapes.

Thanks for the extra information! I'm still debating over which beauty book to get but since I am so crazy about historical looks I think I will buy Lisa Eldridge's Face Paint book... But it doesn't touch on things like application, products and techniques.

I bought Rae Morris's Masterclass, and its everything you can ask for in a makeup book (regarding application and makeup tips) its like a makeup encyclopedia!! To me its like all these type books (bobbi's, rae's, kevyn's) all put together in one.
On the other hand, Kevyn's transformations are soooooo amazing that to me (even tho technically is a step by step book) they stand for their own.
My fave of bobbi's books is 'Pretty Powerful' more for her take on beauty and the effects of makeup on peoples mindsets than for the technical aspects of makeup.
For inspiration when doing creative looks I always go back to Ellis Faas's little publication: the photography is incredible and it always amazes me what she can do in the most simple ways.
If you really want a good technical book though, something you can always refer back to and use to freshen up on skills every once in a while I really reccomend rae's masterclass.

And Breeze, I also have Lisa's, and its mostly about history of beauty and makeup, mostly from a sociological perspective. Super interesting if you ask me (most of the historical references in my thesis came from that book)
But if its historical LOOKS what you are interested in, I'd look into kevyn's Making Faces ;) he takes known faces and transforms them into iconic historical inspired looks, providing also a quick step by step to attain them

Great suggestions, I would like to add Bobbi brown the ultimate beauty resource and The 1953 book the Stage Makeup by Horace Sequeira in addition to those that have been mentioned on this thread already. :)
