So I am reading up on Caroline Hirons blog nowadays and it says that foaming cleansers are badddd for your skin.
I have oily skin and I have always used foaming cleansers; those harsh ones...my personal favorite is Ponds activated charcoal one because it cleanses so well and it removes every trace of waterproof makeup as well! anddd its cheap!
my face is fine so far nothing severely bad. but it looks dull and tired.
so I have started using moisturizer on and off and recently bought Pixi Glow tonic.
now I am wondering if I should change my cleanser too. I use soap and glory and Scalisi Skincare cleansers too alongside Ponds one.
shall I get some sort of cleansing oil or balm for makeup removal and a creamy cleanser for a second cleanse? or there is no harm in foaming cleansers? if not, then do suggest some good drugstore options. thank you!

Everyone's skin is different and everyone's skin reacts differently to different products. If it's working well for you and not causing irritations or breakouts then carry on using it. But maybe add a serum in for the dullness you are experiencing. Possibly the body shop oils of life serum just to add after your moisturiser. I personally use s gel cleanser from la Roche posay but I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts so I feel that works best for me.

I agree with Lorelle E. above - if it works for you and you like it, then keep using it! I use a gel-type cleanser, the Fresh Soy cleanser with a Mia brush...works for me. Some others I've tried haven't worked as well; you've just have to use whatever is right for you! I find it interesting that someone would make a blanket statement like that - I'm sure there ARE foaming cleansers that are drying and contain harmful chemicals, but I seriously doubt that applies to every single foaming cleanser on the market, IMHO.

I guess you guys are right; maybe I should just include more moisturizing stuff like Lorelle recommended

What's your routine like right now, Rida? I think foaming cleansers can be fine, depending upon your skin type, but if your skin is naturally dry they may be a bit too much.

You know, it bothers me when bloggers say that this product is bad because it could prevent a reader to invest in a good product. What ever works for you, works for you 💕

I have oily skin, once I stopped using those cleansers that are marketed toward oily skin, my skin hasn't been nearly as oily.
They can definitely be harsh and could be making you more oily than need be.
I think it's something to consider, perhaps try out something that is sulfate free and not harsh.
Also, I don't recommend relying on a cleanser to take off makeup.
I normally use like pure olive oil and massage it on my face w/makeup to loosen it up and then wipe it off before washing my face.
I normally use a more deep cleansing product like once a week or twice a week if I want that really clean feeling though

@Hannah, my skin is oily and since I live in a perpetually hot (over 40 C) and humid climate, anything moisturizing puts me off...
I use Ponds Pure White deep cleanser with activated charcoal as a regular face wash or the ponds one with salicylic acid. along with these two I use Soap and Glory's Peaches and Clean, Face Soap and Clarity, Scrub your nose in it and their daily face polish and Freeman's charcoal polishing mask (which is essentially a sugar scrub) and its charcoal mud mask. and oh Scalisi Skincare cleanser and exfoliator in rotation too. the Scalisi one has SLS as a second ingredient but compared to Ponds face washes it isnt drying at all and foams little and its the only one that helped me fight those small skin colored bumps on my forehead.
I also use Triana Miami Exfoliating Gel with glycolic acid as a main ingredient.
I rarely use moisturizers (only when the weather is oven hot and dry) or when applying makeup. and the same with SPF. I only use it when going out in the sun (I work from home) so day time outings are rare.
I bought Pixi glow tonic yesterday only. and now I am thinking of changing cleansers to see if it would help make my skin better. I don't have acne just some occasional tiny red zits on the nose when I am careless about washing my face or I am using makeup too often. nothing that stays beyond a few days. and I have managed to fight off blackheads too with a mix of DIY and these products.
My main concern is dull skin and pores. I want something that would perk up my complexion and make my skin more toned.
Aurora, which cleansers do you use now?
Bethany, I know right. and since we look up to these bloggers so much its difficult to realize they might be wrong lol. but at the end of the day they do help us a lot and we have forums like Beautylish to filter out unnecessary advices so yay!:-D
