Hey do you bake your concealer? what concealer do you use? :)

Do you let your moisturizer and eye cream hydrate your skin for at least twenty minutes before you apply your concealer and foundation?

Sometimes when my skin is dehydrated, my makeup looks patchy.

When you apply your concealer, are you applying it over foundation?

Maybe your applying it too thick or its matte because matte has a funny consistency.

What is your skin, type? some foundations tend to do that when I get oily.

I had the same problem with my concealer under my eyes. I stopped applying foundation under my eyes and used only concealer. Then I set it with Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder using a damp beauty blender. Solved the creasing problem immediately. Hope that helps!  :)

Your skin might be dehydrated or you are really caking on the powder or foundation 💕

Thank you all for your wonderful feedback!! I have oily skin and I'm scared of moisturizer but I'll try it out and see if I see any results!!

Following! I'm patchy too!
@Jacqueline - is it good or not good to apply concealer over foundation? I usually use It CC Cream and blend it all the way up to my lower lash line. I feel like I don't need as much concealer on top of that.

@Livi - do you have 20 minutes to wait after moisturizing?! What do you do during that time? I'm always rushing and getting dressed takes me only a few minutes. You must be very organized! :)

I don't exactly wait 20 minutes because my eye cream absorbs rather quickly. But I do wait a little. Right after skincare, I apply shadow primer, then start on my eye shadow & liner. Then I apply my primer while I let that absorb, I start on the under side of my brows only before moving to my face. After foundation and concealer, I finish my brows, after that I set my concealer, then finish eyes with lower lashline shadow (if I want) then mascara. Then set foundation and finish face and lips. I find that even oily skinned beauties generally don't have really oily under eyes. So even oily skin can benefit from a light eye cream like Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream or Origins All About Eyes Cream.

Thanks Marlene - yeah, I guess I could try to give my moisturizer more time to set, and if I don't have 20 minutes, a few is better than none! Do you have a suggestion for an eye cream for aging skin that's hydrating enough but not greasy?

The 2 I mentioned are really good but light hydrates but I don't think they have any really effective anti aging ingredients in them. I usually use a heavier anti-aging cream with retinol at night and just use a really moisterizing eye cream in the daytime. I have really dry skin, so I'm not that familiar with any really good anti aging creams that are not too greasy. Although I really do like the Philosophy line & Ole Henriksen line for eye creams.

Chris: Under the eye area, layering products can be tricky. Under the eye, I do not apply concealer over foundation. The denser product (concealer) just won't grip properly and stay in place over the foundation. The concealer's heavier pigment weight will either slide off the foundation and/or mix with it and creates separation and/or creasing and patching up. I won't layer multiple complexion coverage products, what I do is apply each product (foundation or concealer) where it is needed on primed skin and then just blend where the edges meet. :)

Chris, I wash my face and do all that crazy stuff once I wake up. After I do that, I do my hair and my brows... Get the kids ready for school get them breakfast and that should at least take 20 minutes. Then, while they eat, I go back and I do my makeup haha.

I have three kids and I have to plan ahead :( lol even to do something simple like do my makeup.. Haha!

@Marleen - thank you! I didn't mean to say I wanted an anti-aging formula, necessarily, only that I have dry, aging-type skin. I will definitely check those out!
@Jacqueline - makes sense, yes! Thank you! Can you recommend a good under-eye primer?

May 19, 2016

Chris M.

@Livi - I tried that today...
Washed & prepped my face then dealt with the dogs & ate breakfast. After that I applied my makeup. It's doable, I just have to organize myself and get used to a new routine. Thank you!

Hmmmm, I like the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer. It has a nice silky serum like texture that blends easily into the skin and keeps product from sinking into fine lines. I kind of liken this more to an under eye treatment serum. There's some really great antioxidants in this formula, and for more mature ladies, this one is a good one to have. I really like it.  :)

Oh great, Jacqueline! I will definitely try it! Thank you!

@Marleen - do you recommend the Clinique All About Eyes or one by Origins? :)

May 20, 2016

Marleen B.

Between those 2, I prefer Clinique. But I think I would choose Ole Henriksen over the Clinique because of the vitamin c. Vitamin c is one of those tried and true anti aging ingredients.

Okay, thanks Marleen! I'll check it out! :)
