Anyone notice that when you put on bb cream/tinted moisturizer/foundation it makes your face look flat? I feel like when I just wear concealer and no foundation I have better bone structure, especially when I smile. Even when I contour it looks fake and not natural.

Yes! I completely agree with you. I have been skipping foundation and just using concealer, blush and high liter or bronzer. A very simple look but it works for everyday.

For me this only happens when I wear a full coverage foundation, it makes my face look quite flat but when I wear like a BB cream, or a small amount of powder I don't have an issue

The fuller the coverage, the flatter your face is going to look. That's the con of what people call, looking "flawless". That's why contour, bronzer and blush are needed to give back the natural contours and dimension you wiped out with foundation and concealer.

This only happens to me if I'm doing a full coverage liquid. If I'm using something lighter it doesn't happen. If it does happen, you can always just Go in with a highlighting powder or cream under your natural contour and it's an easy fix to make it stand out again. Foundation of any kind or finish will always make your face flat, especially the more coverage it has because you're taking that one color and covering up ALL of the natural color you have in your face. Where your natural contour is it is usually a bit darker or it has more shadow naturally. If you're covering that up it's bound to look flat - and using a contour Creme or powder will never make it look as natural as your own contour - although it can come close if you work with it lol. I have super high cheek bones and I understand where you're coming from.

Yeah I feel like even though I do contour it makes it seem so unnatural. I prefer my natural contour better. So maybe I'll just be using concealer from now on

That is exactly why I don't like full coverage, I prefer lighter foundation that is enhancing my skin, without hiding it and therefore keep,l my natural contour!

I've always felt like some of my angles are too sharp to begin with. so I enjoy the way a foundation smooths my face out and let's me add only a bit of contour where I want it, if I even want it that day. I've spent a lot of time finding products and techniques that made me feel this way, but I don't usually feel like the contour I create looks unnatural. I actually prefer it because I don't have the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks at the same time.

I'm pretty sure it's why contouring/highlighting became a thing. Foundation evens out skin tone, but makes it flat, so you have to add it back in with other products.

Yup, if you wear s foundation that's specially full coverage it tends to make your face one flatly colour, while your normal skin without foundation has different tones and textures! The only thing you can do to fix that is to not use foundation like the above comments said or to wear foundation but add blush and contour to add back the dimensions to your face X
