Thanks Patty! I've been wracking my brain trying to figure this out lol. Now, I've never diluted color with condioner before, so how much should I add per tube? Also, my hair has faded two-toned (old roots/midshaft are still pretty red and the ends are way more faded to like a light orangey pink color). The ends were bleached a few times over the years and has mostly grown out and I just cut 6" off too. So it may come out with an ombre effect lol, but that's cool too. :p.

You can use the magenta and I've mixed in Ion Color Brilliance colors with the formula. The magenta/pink/or purple I think mixed in would give you the color you're looking for

Stay away from Manic Panic! FYI. Just personal experience, it bleeds everywhere and the color rubs off on EVERYTHING. Granted, it washes off easily and deposits color but it's not that great when it comes to color pay off.

Thanks Dorothea! So you've mixed Ion semi permanent with loreal hicolor permanent, and the developer didn't mess up the pigment in the semi? Also, should I use a red protein filler on the midshaft and ends, since they've been previously processed already? I'm thinking the semi color may need something to "grab on to" since it faded so much more than the rest.

I wouldn't mix the semi permanent with the l'oreal high lift since the semi permanent shouldn't be mixed with peroxide. I would use the protein filler (except roots) as a color refresher: massage into wet hair, leave it for 20 mins and rinse. I would let my hair to rest for a couple of days, then apply the ion brights. when I refresh my hair color I mix the hair color with conditioner or a hair mask just enough to make the hair dye manageable.

Protein filler I highly recommend for the most even color. And I have mixed the two, and it never gave me any problems personally.

I generally mix it when I need extra dye and mixing it with the developer I personally feel hasn't messed with the integrity of the dye. But that's my personal experience

The hi lift colors have blonde shades so you could just use the blonde on the roots and get a hair dye that is more of that RV color
I wouldn't suggest mixing a regular hair dye with a high lift one, the only thing it'll do is effect how well the product lifts resulting is a color darker than expected
If you already have the magenta color to keep that magenta base and then use a more fuchsia/violet color on top to give that blue undertone

Ok sooooo...last night I did my roots with loreal hicolor magenta and the midshaft and ends with a red protein filler. I wanted to post pics on here first of the outcome before I decide on a mixing ratio of the magenta and fuchsia ion semi colors. Lighting is everything, so I took some pics outside, with what little sunlight is left lol. I see an ugly orangey color line of demarcation, right below where my roots ended (that I just touched up using the loreal hicolor magenta). A nightmare for coloring hair. So please feel free to suggest any ideas on the best way to mix the magenta and fuchsia before I apply that. Below are some pics of before, during and after the 1st 2 steps. Thanks bunches loves!

Since you want more violet tone than red, I would mix a tube of fuchsia and half of the magenta.
