I'm not sure what the difference is. Which should I use to cover red spots due to acne and scarring?

Color correcting won't cover anything by itself, it just helps to neutralize discoloration, you still need something on top of it. I would suggest the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, it's medium to full coverage and covers acne, scarring, redness, and discoloration beautifully (:
