Well, I've tried a sample of the Marc Jacobs and I like it. It's very full coverage but not heavy. It's funny coz everyone on youtube is used to putting on a certain amount & everyone realizes they put on way too much with this particular foundation. You only need about half as much as usual foundation. It's kinda like "ink". I have dry skin, but don't have any dry patches so it went on smoothly. But I do use the Smashbox Oil primer, to hydrate and prevent moisture loss. I've read a lot of reviews on it and a lot of people say it's not for dry skin. Also, everyone dots on their foundation allover their face, and then start to blend. I never do it that way. I dot on the right side of my face & blend, then the other side, then blend, forehead & down nose & chin. It's my preference. But with this foundation, I would definitely do it my way because of its inky texture, it dries quickly and will be hard to blend if it dries. This is just my opinion. Again, everyone's skin is different but this was my experience.

If you can't get samples, read as many reviews as possible on each, considering the reviewer's skintype, age, skin issues and makeup style (heavy makeup, natural makeup, etc). And don't forget YouTube.

I'm really interested in trying the marc jacobs, I've been reading reviews some positive some not as positive :/
I can sometimes have dry patches but not often.. mostly only my nose.
have you tired any of the other ones?
and hmm I'll have to look on ebay and see if I can find any samples.
also did the marc jacobs last awhile? I heard the armani doesn't last as long.. :/
have you tried the other 2?
or have any holly grail foundations? I'm always looking for a new one lol

I tried the Armani one years ago, like 10 years ago. it seems. I thought it was ok. But...I had a very different skintype back then. Not as dry and my skin was smoother. I don't think I can fairly judge it now. My favs right now is Loreal Lumi & Too Faced Born This Way. Both for drier skins. I got one of those cardboard samplers with 3 foil blobs of the Narc Jacobs foundation. I mixed the med & the darker one to match my skin and I got 2 days out of it. I may have been able to get a 3rd day out of it , if it didn't dry up because you can't seal them closed once you've opened it.

There are a few vendors on Ebay selling the exact sampler I got.

Hahha! you had it before it became extremely popular lol
I bought the too faced but it wasn't my color :/ more yellow then I thought it would be... I thought about trying the loreal lumi, how's the wear time on it?
and hmm I'm pasty those wouldn't work for me :(
how did the marc jacobs wear through the day?

Everything wears well on me. As a matter of fact, makeup seems to intensity on me as the day wear on. I think I'm rare breed. I don't need primer to extend my makeup wear, I only wear it to smooth out the texture of my skin and now since I found the oil primer, to moisterize and give my foundation a beautiful satin finish. If you have had a problem with foundations not wearing as long as you would like it, you may prefer the Too Faced one over the Lumi. Too Faced has a slightly thicker formula than the Lumi although it's not too thick. The Too Faced has a "natural skin" finish which I add a drop of oil primer to give it a more moisterizing feel and look. I prefer a slightly dewier finish. The Lumi has a thinner texture and is dewey without being too dewy (if you have dry skin). Oily skin's may break it down more easily.

Um yes! very rare breed! lucky
and I definitely need a primer but also depends on the foundation.
which primer do you use? when you use one. I read the lumi breaks a lot of people out. I have more dry but not bone dry lol
would you buy the marc jacobs remarcable? did it crease? separate? go into fine line? thanks for all your advance and help btw :)

The Lumi is moisterizing but it's not the most moisterizing I've tried. I really can't tell you if it will break you out or not. But it has a good reputation even for oily to normal skinned girls. I will be buying the Marc Jacobs this Saturday. I got a 15% off card from Sephora & I'm going to take advantage of it. I use & love the Smashbox Oil Primer, which can be scary if you don't have dry skin. I use to use the IT Cosmetics #50 Serum Primer which was good for smoothing out the texture of my skin and didn't dry out my skin, but it is expensive for the amount they give you. I get more value from the Smashbox and I like the dewier finish. Still trying to get a list together. So far, it's the Marc Jacobs Foundation & another bottle of the oil primer. But I WILL get more, like I said , I'm taking advantage of this discount card.

Hmm I might give it a try and then maybe try the marc jacobs a little later. I wonder if you can mix the marc with a high light or luminous primer for more moisture. I have a sample of the smashbox oil.. I'll have to give it a try.
and heck yeah! take full advantage of that 15% off!

So far, I've mixed my oil primer with the Born This Way & the Lumi, and it worked out well. I like the finish I get when I mix the oil with those foundations. But I also mix in some Cover Fx custom drops to increase the coverage. I feel that when I mix in the oil, it may thin out the coverage. And I like a full coverage but don't like thick foundations. That's why I like the Marc one. It gives a really full coverage and is not thick. And I'm hoping it will be enough where I don't have to add the custom drops. I'm trying to get full coverage, lightweight. feel & dewy finish without drying out my skin. Hopefully Marc won't let me down. Although, I do expect that I will still have to add a little oil primer to it for the moisture and dewey finish, which I don't mind. But since this foundation is a very high coverage, I'm hoping the oil doesn't lessen the coverage so I can eliminate the custom drops.

Went to Sephora, got the Smashbox oil primer, Becca Powder Foundation (going to use it as a setting powder) Sephora Precise Tightlining brush (although I'm going to use it for my brows), the NUDE Beauty Blender & a Marc Jacobs eyeliner. I didn't buy the MJ foundation only because they don't carry the shade I was interested in, in the store (only online), #58 (peach undertone). So, I got a sample in the closest matching shade they had #52 which has yellow undertones which may or may not be the best shade for me. I'm going to test #52 for a couple of days & if I find it too light, I'll just order #58. I can always return it, if it doesn't match. I saw the Too Faced Peach palette and as pretty as it is, I felt like I have all those colors already between my Morphe , Chocolate Bar & Lorac Skinny Black Neutral palletes. So I passed on it for now.

I'm on day 2 of a sample of the MJ foundation and I have already ordered it from Sephora. I have never seen or used anything quite like it. I have very dry skin. I use the smashbox oil primer, make up forever step one or hourglass depending on my mood. This foundation is the most gorgeous thing I've ever used. I'm 43 so I worry a lot about full coverage foundations settling into lines but the two days I've used this the foundation looked beautiful for 10+ hours. I could see it settling on dry patches, but I just swiped that with my finger and it looked amazing. I can't even explain this texture - it's sort of powdery, but glowy at the same time. The finish is just so darn pretty. But I also ordered the Tarte rainforest of the sea when the Sephora 15% first took effect so I'll have to compare them both. I think (based on my samples of tarte) that it will be better for hot summer days but we shall see. This Marc Jacobs foundation though - I can't even... :)

Amanda, I too, am of a 'certain age" and also have dry skin. But with the oil primer it feels more like combo dry. It is a very unique foundation. The way it smooths out the skin without a thick layer on it. I ordered it , not quite knowing my shade. But wanted the 15% off. So, I'm actually still testing a few different shades. I feel with the full coverage it gives, it's ever more important to get the shade as close as possible to your skin color. Once I've decided on my shade, I'm exchanging the one I bought (unopened ). I already know, it's too dark from my testings. But like I said, you felt like I had to make a quick decision at the time to get the discount.
