For locks of love, is highlighted hair accepted? I haven't gotten it highlighted in over a year (not sure if the amount of time would make a difference)

No, no chemical treated hair is accepted. And although it's been over a year since you highlighted your hair, you still have that chemical treated hair (if that makes sense)

Yes it does. I want to cut over 12 inches off and it sucks I can't donate it. It's just so much hair.

Most places like that will not take it. But there may be a local company that does non profit and locally donated. I donated my hair when I shaved my sides. Because my hair is really thick and long they cut it in half and used it for a bobbed cut. It was to our local cancer hospital, they make wigs for children and adults but the children sometimes prefer the bright colors. I actually got sent a picture of the little girl that got my hair, it was super cute. But you may have somewhere like that near you.

And FYI locks of love charge those who want their wigs. So I'd look into other nonprofits. I'm growing my hair out too and using another group who accepts color treated hair and doesn't charge wigs for kids.

Don't go through locks of love! They make the cancer patients pay huge sums of money for the wigs. Go with American Cancer Society instead :) Chemically treated hair is not excepted either way though..
