I was tie dying stuff the other day with food coloring and being the lazy self I am, didn't want to go downstairs and get my plastic gloves. I wasn't using my brain and thought that I'll just wash off my nails with warm soap and water once I'm done and that definitely did not work! My nails are completely stained yellow and it looks like I have a fungus. I painted over them to make them look better, but there are going to be days I don't want polish on my nails. How can I remove the stains? I'd prefer methods or DIY stuff I have laying around the house.

Sam, I know it's probably not going to be permanent, but I really want to remove the stains soon because they look really gross and I am a runner and a high school student and don't always have time to paint my nails.
Nadine, I will try that, thank you :) I hope it works!

I read something that you can use peroxide to bleach your nails. Idk if it weakens it, but definitely something to research!

Okay, thank you Hannah! I will definitely look into that :)

Katelyn, don't use peroxide! Please! Its damaging to your nails! On a cellular level, it is really good at killing cells, so it will definitely harm the skin around your fingers. Try the rubbing alcohol, and if that doesn't work, nail polish remover, and if THAT doesn't work, straight acetone. If none of these methods work, you'll have to wait until it grows out or fades.

This is going to sound stupid, but if your nails are yellow, then why don't you just paint them a bright colour like a bright pink, blue etc. so that it takes away the yellow colour! good luck :)
