Purple shampoos won't make your hair lighter, it will only neutralize your hairs brassiness. The only thing that will lighten hair color is bleach! I would actually use a blue shampoo on your hair and not purple. You'll see better, more efficient, results with blue! Good luck!

I would use a toner first, for that I would go to the hair salon, then if it's still not light enough to your taste I would get some blue shampoo, best one is by provoke touch of silver, you leave it on for 5 minutes and it will brighten it up, take the yellowness and brassiness away

Purple shampoo will help it become more silvery, and kind of lilac tinted, so if you'd want that outcome go for it!
