You can stick a piece of self- adhesive Moleskin from the drugstore on the strap to prevent slipping. The patches can be cut any size strip you need. They sell pre-cut strap cushions like Foot Petals Strappy Strips as well, but they will still stretch out with time so that's a short term fix. (great for comfort though)
If you really love them, why not take them to a cobbler and have the strap shortened, which I have also done. It was inexpensive and I had them back in a week.

I agree with taking them to a cobbler, it's a long term fix :)

I've heard of putting hairspray on the problem area, but if that doesn't work, I suppose go see a cobbler. good luck:)

The Foot Petals Roz suggested work great for me. I had the same problem with the back of my shoes sliding off, I slipped in a pair of petals and the fit much more snug. Not to mention they are a lot more comfortable on the balls of my feet. I tried mole skin before but it kept rolling off like a wet bandaid. Maybe I didn't apply it right? it lasted about 10 mins all 3 times I used it.

Jay..argh! That would drive me nuts. Foot Petals are pretty awesome. Their sole inserts have saved me from ill-fitted shoes on more than one occassion in the past. I used the CVS ( Drugstore) brand Moleskin. I have a square in the heels of my Chucks and Vans as well, but it might depend on what fabric the strap or shoe is regarding adhesive power. Good point.
Certainly for shoes I truly love and plan on wearing all summer..especially real leather shoes which stretch with time... off to the Cobbler I go. Foot Petals are usually a nice quick fix and amp up that comfort level for sure.

I'm glad you mentioned the shoe repair place too, I didn't even think of that. I have a few pairs I need to take in before summer. Then I don't have to keep doing the temp fix. Thanks Roz, totally helpful!
