Which dress for a ball??

The black one. It's more of a classic look, whereas the white one has a very specific modern look to it that may go in and out of style. Plus, if folks are getting drunk, & someone spills something on you, black would be better. And if you're going to have a few drinks your self, you may have a clothing "malfunction" with the neckline of the white one.
