Eyeliner Sharpening Troubles

Help! I don't know what to do. I bought this amazing eyeliner by Estee Lauder and have the hardest time sharpening it. I've tried pencil sharpeners and even a knife (the old school way lol) Considering it was a bit pricey I would like to keep it as long as I can. Any ideas?
