Put your finger behind your lashes and apply your mascara, it just goes on your finger instead of your eyelid, or. You can just look down when applying

if you get any on your eyelids then my tip which works for me is, I'll put on my mascara and afterwards I'll dip a cotton bud in Vaseline or eye makeup remover and then close my eye and use the bud to wipe off any mess :)

and I misunderstood your post but to avoid getting into your eyes just make sure your wand isn't full of mascara liquid, and look ahead when you apply your mascara. If your mascara is turning stringy and floats on your eyeball then it's time to change it
