You ate depositing color over the colored ends making them darker. This is what happens with box color. You can simply just do your roots or strip color every time you want to color your hair. Sadly, with metallic dyes there is no way around this. The more you put it on, the darker the color will be.

how do you strip the color

You strip colour with a powder bleach and shampoo until it lightens up. But it would be best to get it done at a salon or just do your roots and if you want to freshen it up put it on the ends for the last 10 mins

My mom and sister have that problem and they find it easier if u put the dye on normally and then wash it and stuff and then do the top again!!! Hope it helps!

What I would do is my roots, then depending on processing time, I would run it through the ends for the last couple mins to refresh the color.

You need to apply the colour at the roots first and leave it on for at least 20 minutes, because the colour that is natural/has no colour, will take longer to take, then apply the rest on to the midlenghts of your hair, if it's pre coloured the hair is more porous therefore colour will find it harder to penetrate. Thats why it will look lighter at the roots and darker at the midlenghts.

I meant the colour will penetrate quicker on porous hair
