I have a problem with them separating, but that's probably just because I wear so little foundation on myself I only buy one ever year or two. lol because of that, I splurge and get Chanel.

In my kit though I use the Bobbi Brown BBU palette and mixing medium if necessary.

Mac foundations have a great colour range, they are raved a lot by beauty gurus on YouTube but there not great, a lot are thick and heavy and unables your skin to breathe that will also make you brake out try there studio plus powder there colour range is great

It turns orange on me within a few hours and no matter what formula it is I experienced horrible cystic acne. When the line first came out I never had that problem with the Studio Fix but as they evolved and obtained cult status the quality, in my opinion, downgraded.

As a MAC artist, I find the most complaints come from those who are in the wrong formula and the wrong shade. We have twelve formulas of foundation with over 50 shades. I have never had a client sit in my chair that I have not been able to find a perfect match for. Also, as far as products separating, it's important to understand that you have to use products that contain the same base. For example, I can't wear my water based BB cream with my silica based studio fix- naturally it will separate. My advice for those who want to try their perfect formula, go by the counter and get a weeks sample for free.

@Sarah- I have found the best way to make sure your product bases are matching (as far as MAC goes) is to go online to our website. It has listed each foundation we carry an what it's base is. I would suggest asking your local MAC artists but I have been to several counters without them knowing I work for MAC just to see if they knew their product ingredients- some do, most don't.

I have many of their foundations and I hated them all. I have also worked for a dermatologist office and soooo many women and girls would come in with bad skin and low and behold a ton if the used Mac and their skin cleared once the changed brands.
I find it oxidizes very fast on me an I end up looking orange. I am an nc15 in most shades so it's not a matter of not using the proper shade. It looks good for like an hour and then I resemble a pumpkin.

one of my favorite foundations from Mac is Face and body. I love how the product doesn't feel heavy on my skin and I'm a makeup artist so this product looks amazing in pictures.

@Sarah- ok, maybe this will help. Bases are as follows:
Prolongwear, studio fix fluid, match master- silica based
Face and body, studio tech, mineralized (liquid and cream)- water based
Studio sculpt- gel based

@Shelly ive heard the cystic acne thing! this is what recently veered me away from purchasing their blush in blunt. i heard the red dyes in that shade (the same they use for some of their foundations) causes horrible cystic acne deep in the skin wherever people applied it. eeeeeek

No matter what you wear - research it first. I've worked for MAC & other cosmetic companies too & I find that most women want full coverage without feeling like they're wearing it.
I'm currently in love with bareMinerals ready foundation in the compact! I didn't think I'd love it as much as I do!

I use Estée Lauders double wear in bone (but I mix it with the lightest shade if double west maximum cover foundation).

I use studio sculpt and I love it. it is thicker and a little heavier but I personally love the feeling of makeup so it doesn't bother me. I haven't broken out from using it and it is full coverage when you only need a pea sized amount.
