Gunk from Eyeliner!

I notice that after a few hours of wearing eyeliner, it gets all gunky in the corners of my eyes. I also have to usually wipe from underneath my eyes as there's all black underneath. Does anyone know of a good brand that I should try to avoid my makeup from getting like that? I only wear eyeliner on my bottom eyes.
