Most of the time when I think of grunge I think of leather jackets, black skinny jeans, and boots which is usually worn in the winter. I'm not usually the type of person to wear colors to match with the season. What clothes can I wear in the spring/summer to still pull off the grunge kind if look? It doesn't necessarily have to be grunge either, just kind of a darker look? Not really a fan of bright/neon colors.

Distressed shorts, black tanks or band tees, and black vans. If you need a sweater/cover up then go for plaid shirts or black or gray slightly oversized cardigans. If you like dresses then go for black or dark grey with boots.
I feel like a lot of people over think grunge but to me it's the easiest style to pull off. It's messy and has a "I just kind of threw this together but oh well" kind of feel.
Also, please don't wear tees for bands that you don't listen to/have never heard of before. That is my biggest pet peeve.

Basically what Alexis said. I think you're over thinking it. Grunge is very sloppy in both clothing and makeup and is more of an attitude than a style and the attitude is really just not caring about anything, very laid back and not materialistic.

Second what Alexis said about the band tees. Best to get some cute white/black crop tops instead of a band tee featuring someone you've never heard of. Inevitably, someone will talk to you about said band and then it'll just be a disaster.

I agree with Alexis! My friend once wore a Nirvana tshirt and the only Nirvana song she's knows is Smells Like Teen Spirit, so funny when she got asked what her favourite song was.
