Nothing seems to do what I need it to. I've had so many problems, from oxadizing to caking, fading to patchyness. I need something that'll be gentle on my combination skin, but that'll also even out and cover discoloration. Any suggestions are welcome.

If you're having problems with every foundation you've tried then it's probably your skin that's the issue and not the foundations themselves. What's your skincare routine?

You also may be buying foundations for the wrong skin type? What foundations have you tried?

My skin care routine is pretty standard. Cleansing, toner and moisturizer every day. Exfoliating twice a week. My skin is sensative and combination. My nose is prone to boackheads and breakouts and has very dry skin, though my face is oily. I've tried loreal truematch, rimmel bb cream, covergirl 3 in one, maybelline fit me matte and poreless, rimmel clean finish, physicians formula bb cream, clinique cc cream, revlon colorstay for oily/combination, and a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

I would have suggested exfoliating but I see you already do that.
have you ever used a primer?
it's possible you just need a barrier between your skin and foundation.

It's very possible that if your skin is oxidizing it's because your skins pH level is off (too acidic) and speeds up the oxidation process. Many skin care routine products alter your skins pH level so it's important to tone your skin or switch products. Dermalogica products are pH balanced and keep your skin at the range it should be between 4 & 6. Your skincare is very important when it comes to makeup so I'd focus on that first.

I think the problem is the products... Those low end products are no good for me personally - try something high end in the store or have one of the ladies try some on you or give you a sample before you buy - I would recommend for full cover on combo/oil acne prone sensitive skin (which is exactly my skin type) is Estée Lauder double wear maximum cover - or MUFE mat velvet - those have never given me problems and they are full coverage to cover my acne scars.

Have you been using a primer? A primer can solve many of these issues including oxidizing and fading. I have oily skin and I really like Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, I believe Smashbox also makes a good hydrating primer. And if you have sensitive skin you should check out Cover Fx Primer. I also agree that your skincare routine might be throwing off your skin's ph balance which is causing your foundation to oxidize. A primer can also help because it creates a barrier between your skin and your makeup so that your foundation doesn't oxidize as quickly. I personally love L'Oreal True Match, you may also want to try out Marcelle and Cover Fx which is great for sensitive skin. I also really enjoy MUFE Mat Velvet + however I find it will cling to any dry patches you have especially on the nose area. Check out MUFE HD foundation.

Honestly, I have those days too. I have dry skin acne prone skin. So there are days where I hate foundation. Even the high end foundations just so not do it for me. My best advice is play with foundations and primers. Primers for me really help. Also, some foundations are not one size fits all. Some work for people and others do not. It seems you are aware of your skin and how your foundation is working on the skin. So zone in on that and if you have a cosmetic store near you let them know the issue and they will help you find foundations and try them to see how you feel about them.

The drugstore foundations always oxidize on me. Definitely look into high end foundations if your budget allows. A good primer will always help.

Chanel le blanc primer and Dior airflash work for me. I used to have the same problem that you're having. Foundation and primer are products that you should definitely splurge on.

Hourglass also makes a great primer. Don't skimp on skin care either in order for it to work right your skin needs to be a good canvas.

I completely agree with Diana! I was going to recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear (Makeup Forever is also great). Drugstore foundations really just make me cringe because I have never found one that was just amazing. I also think primer is a must for everyone, but thats just my opinion. It really does make a difference. The only con you would have with trying a higher end foundation is the price. But, they usually last longer than drugstore products (because you need less product) and they look better and last all day better. Also, you'll end up spending less than you would buying drugstore products that you don't like, which causes you to go out and buy another and having the same issue, just wasting your money instead of spending a little more to buy a better product. I would try samples before buying though because you don't know how it will be for your skin.
