I was wondering if any of you have ever had any success in whitening a crown? I have one on my very front tooth as not going to lie, my teeth are pretty stained especially the crown, any way I can fix this?:/

You could try whitening strips if you have straight teeth. If you don't (like me) a whitening pen is the way to go! Or you could try the 5 minute whitening kit from Wal-Mart!

Have you talked to your dentist about it? My cousin has crowns and his looked like they had a foggy film over them then he went to the dentist and I don't know what he did but they were shiny silver again..

From my understanding (I'm a dental tech student who makes crowns, dentures ect) a porcelain crown should not stain as it is not as porous as a natural tooth. If you whiten the rest of your teeth you will probably have to have a new crown placed in to match that colour. A dentist may be able to professionally whiten just the crown, but that has not been mentioned during my study.

I am getting a crown at the front this summer but I'm having my teeth whitened first and then the crown fitted so the crown it whiter because the dentist said you can't whiten crowns, you have to replace it in a different shade if you want it whiter

Hi Monique, I'm a dental nurse. It's generally not possible to whiten crowns with whitening/bleaching strips. If you whiten your teeth, than the crown will stay the same colour it is now. You may need to get a new crown to match your newly whitened teeth. A dentist may be able to whiten it, but I cannot say they definitely can.
