I am looking to potentially dye my hair, something I have done before. However, in December I got my hair dyed red and my brown roots are showing. I'm wanting to go a light brown/auburn so I obviously wanna get rid of the red. Have any of you used these products? Which is better? Will I still need to lighten my hair a bit before dye?

Wow. Do you think one n only could strip a faded black enough that I could color a dark brown?

I've never used it to remove black dye before so I'm not totally sure. Here are some things the box claims:
*Gently removes permanent hair color no matter how long it has been in hair.
*Easily removes any level of hair color.
*Effective on all hair types - leaves hair in optimum condition.
*Does not contain ammonia, bleach or formaldehyde.

Sounds worth a shot. I'm not looking to go crazy, just to strip out the black to a minimum. My hair actually looks brown in the sun so maybe it'll do just enough. Where can I buy it?

I tried both color prep (from color opps) and color fix. In Both sessions I spread out the product evenly. Both products stripped about 2 levels off. But color fix left my hair patchy and uneven, damaged my hair a lot more than color prep. So for me the winner was color prep, the smell wasn’t as bad as color fix, and the smell left my hair after just one day. So if you’re looking to strip color I would recommend color prep.
