I got a super bad ombre done that's fried my hair. What can I do to start repairing it?

My hair was getting so healthy and I totally messed up by getting it ombred. Which she ended up doing to 95% of my hair and it just isn't nice at all. My hair feels horrible now. What can I do to help it get back to healthy?

And can we all just agree that it does not look okay lol and that it is in no way shape or form what I asked for.

I don't think it's bad honestly. Once it's styled I think it could look nice. Start using purple shampoo take some of that brassy away. I use argan oil and coconut oil three times a week. Has helped a lot for me. Goodluck.

Well the first time she foiled it it was so brassy so we did it again. And I was there for like four hours trying to get her to fix it but she kept saying wow this is so nice. Also she's a girl I went to highschool with so I know her personally and didn't wanna offend her. She kinda seemed offended at first when I ask her to redo the foils to get the brassyness out

I just don't think she understood my vision of it. And also my hair is actually going to be as long as the girls in the photo because I ordered tape ins as well. So I feel like she didn't need to do the ombre up so high being that my hair was going to be a lot longer and then like pretty much all of t would end up being blonde.

I've got some purple shampoo in it now that I'm going to let sit for a bit!

Oh man. Well you should be happy when you walk out either way. But she should have told you if she wasn't going to be able to get it like the picture you showed her. That's unfair. And that's why it feels so damaged then if she did it twice just try not to mess with it for a while and definitely do oil treatments to help.

Yeah I'm rather upset but since she's knowing I know I didn't wanna make a big deal.. I ended up toning it down myself at home so the blonde starts a lot lower now and she way be offended but like I wanted to look normal hahah. Hopefully with the extensions it'll look good! I got like a dark ashy blonde and a brighter blonde which should make an ombre look.

Fingers crossed cause it was expensive as hell!!

Honestly, I would just go back to the place and tell them to redo it for free. Yeah, it's awkward that you knew her but still it's your money and if she can't do her job right then you shouldn't have to waste your money like that. I would call and tell them to do it again. :/

But that purple shampoo should help so hopeful that will work out!

Well since toning it myself I am liking it more. And I think maybe it with extensions it will be more what I had hoped for. I really feel too uncomfortable to go and tell her I didn't like it after saying that the first time lol. I'm just hoping she doesn't notice that I did a little recolouring myself!

If she works for a salon, go when she isn't working. Generally when you don't like something, they get another person to fix it anyways, since it's likely a communication error (not necessarily with you, though sometimes people just don't fully understand what you mean) so you could go back and get someone else to do it while she isn't working. But there's really no way to fix it yourself, especially ombre is incredibly difficult to do on yourself. Even salon professionals don't know how to do it a lot of the time (like you've experienced) and they have years of training. But do a mask a week. Don't do more, since you don't want to take the natural oil away to much. And you can actually over condition your hair to the point it's more damaged

Honestly I wouldn't go back there, if the salon is bad it is bad. No matter if they had the best service and actually wanted to fix it for you if they don't have the skill it'll end up worse. My best advice is the coconut oil, NO HEAT, and if you want to fix it go some better place that you've seen work for someone else.

Since we have mutual friends the situation is very awkward and I don't wanna offend her by going in any essentially telling her boss this was bad. I don't know if I mentioned, but I was dying my hair to get new tape ins, which in the end was supposed to be the picture I mentioned above. So I think if when I go in and the hair doesn't even match I'll then say like this isn't acceptable and I expect it to be fixed free of charge.

I actually like it! But can totally understand why you're upset. Coconut oil will help or you can go to Sally's and buy their hair masks. Love them!

I went through the EXACT same thing. I do believe I told you about it, Jenna. It's ridiculous. I feel like when the word "ash" is put into it, they get confused or something, it's happened to you, me, and a friend of mine. I don't understand. I'm sorry you went through that. I went back and got it fixed but it still looked like crap and wasn't ashy at all. Definitely unprofessional. I'd just go somewhere else and get them to fix it. It's sad that they can't get it right the first time and you have to go to someone else, they should've done their job correctly the first time. I ended up just dying over it myself.

I don't think it looks bad but if it's not what you asked for you should've gotten your money back Or had them fix It for free.

Shanae , ugh such a hard situation. Like why can't it just go right! And now I'm in this awkward situation of what do I do now cause I don't wanna offend her but I also don't wanna look bad. And I feel bad for my poor hair now :( just thinking of going back brown and saying goodbye to ombre forever.

There are some comments on here that really hurt as a hairstylist. Don't be worried. We want you to be as happy as you do. Talk to a manager. They will do additional toning. If she's offended, that's her problem. Not every stylist is meant for every clients. I've used ash formulas on people before and they've gone really warm, and not saying in this case, but it ended up she didn't give me full disclosure of her hairs history which would've made the difference in. I can honestly tell you though to 100% of legit salons would rather you come back in and be happy than what you're going through. Just call them now. They probably won't do anything too quickly to prevent your hair from additional damage and may even throw in a few conditioning treatments. I will tell you though a thick layer of coconut oil buildup will not be helping any future color services so ask your next stylist if you need to clarify beforehand.

Rachel, thanks for your comment. I hope I wasn't coming off as offensive towards stylist because I know not every colour of hair can be achieved and for me personally it's not so much the colour I'm upset about, it's the placement. I specifically showed a picture that the end product doesn't resemble at all. She just seemed very rushed and when I asked her to redo some brassy highlights she's like you're lucky I like you, which I'm sure she was joking but it made me feel awkward about complaining. And her manager was even there and no one ever even asked me if I liked what I got done. They were just kinda like oh well we tried. Like she told her yeah she wanted ashy and the manger was like oh well this is fine anyways. I don't feel they'll take kindly to me going in complaining again
