I've had my hair this colour for about 2 years so, I do think it's time for a change. I was wondering whether anyone had any neat tricks for removing colour from your hair? I've been washing my hair everyday with anti dandruff shampoo which has lightened my hair. I'll show you the difference in colour bellow.

It's a little darker in person but it has obviously lightened.

I've heard of vitamin c and peroxide doing the trick but of course, it would be a little damaging. I would just use color oops color stripper. I had to use color oops and then bleach the rest out, but mine was red.

I've heard of that method too. I wasn't too sure how much it would remove of the colour and whether it'd worth it but it definitely something to consider. Thank you!

Vitamin c powder definitely. But don't use peroxide or bleach, as it can cause it to stain by pushing the color further in.

I use the vitamin c method and it almost always gets me back to blonde. But you can color correct it to, by mixing a drop or two of the opposite color of your hair into conditioner and vitamin c. It really helps.

Is there a vitamin c liquid, Alyx? I thought the reason for the peroxide was to make it liquid form.

I am trying to remove my bright red hair dye and am about to try the vitamin c thing later tonight. I have read you should mix it with shampoo though, not peroxide. I'll let you know if it works when I'm done. =)

No, I don't think so. The vitamin c powder, or crushed up tablets, is mixed with shampoo or conditioner, and it basically absorbs into it and just makes a textured shampoo.
Then you put it on your hair, like normal shampoo, but make sure you coat the lengths too. And leave it on, then kinda scrub it while rinsing it out. The vitamin c absorbs the color and fades it, along with the shampoo.

I had blue hair fairly close to your before picture. Using a colour stripper removed most of the colour and left me with a silver colour (as attached below) colour strippers do have some bleach in them but it is not as damaging as actually bleaching your hair. Other than that dish soap works the best. I'd also recommend to deep condition after any method since stripping the hair dries it out.

Be careful with those color strippers. They have bleach in them, so they can cause it to stain the hair shift, and may or may not work.

What color do you plan to dye your hair?

White clay + baking soda + lemon juice + anti dandruff shampoo mixed together and used like a mask can help, but if you want to dye it With a light. Color, you Will need to bleach it

Lemon juice can have the same effect As bleach, and cause staining. So please be careful and don't use any of those if you plan on going lighter and not black, or it'll stain and you'll have a permanent blue tint to your hair, even on dark brown hair.

Again, veggie dyes should not be bleached. It can cause the pigment to be pushed further into the hair shaft and cause a stain. Blue is not easy to remove at all, it's very likely to stain with any bleach, including color oops (which 99% of the time doesn't remove veggie dye - even says on the box not to use it on it) and the only way to get rid of the stain is to cut it off. Even dying it black would end up with a permanent blue tint.
