I have battled with acne since I was eleven years old, now at 15 my face is finally clearing up, thanks to my dermatologist. I have been seeing a skin doctor for a long time, but he never listened to how sensitive my skin was. He prescribed a pretty high dosage of Tretinoin and it made my face look like I nose dived into concrete. I had chemical burns, it was peeling and awful. Well now four years later I have been using the same product at a much lower dosage, after finding a new derm. I use only 0.05% which I believe is the lowest you can get! and it's a life saver for me. Opinions on Tretinoin?

Use it. Love it. Amazing results. It's all about HOW you use it.
Don't apply after washing your face. Skin is far too delicate and absorvant. Wait til you are completely dry.
Apply in teeny tiny amounts..spot treating when possible. I mean PEA size application.
An hour after application, apply a gentle moisturizer, like CeraVe or Cetaphil..sleep in that.
Wear sunglasses and broad spectrum zinc-oxide based sunscreen, such as CeraVe with an SPF of 35 or 50.
Use non drying CC Cream, such as Lumene, with SPF for touchups and go for a liquid foundation intended for dry skin. I love MUFE Face & Body. Clinique counters surely have something to address your foundation needs.
Aquaphor for rough patches.
Use only 100% cotton clothes, puffs, and pillowcases.
Apply Jojoba oil when you are home relaxing. Safe for acne prone skin. Test patch everything to be safe.
Rinse with cooler water..always.
Introduce your skin to it slowly..every 3rd day..then every other day..etc. Pace yourself.
Philosophy Microdelivery Wash..gentle, hydrating and removes flakes. CeraVe or Cetaphil face wash...big plus!
Try priming with Lait-creme concentrate. Just a dab should do ya.
Don't give up. Bonus..it increases cell turnover and boosts collagen!
TALK to your derm. Discuss your issues. A good derm will listen.
