Teeth whitening toothpaste?

I'm looking into getting a teeth whitening toothpaste. I don't want to use those whitening strips or anything like that. The thing is I have permanent retainers in my mouth from having braces and I don't want anything to eat away at the glue because it costs a lot of money to get it fixed. Are their whitening toothpastes that actually work and won't eat away at the glue on my retainers?

I'm unsure about the glue thing. But I've had everything possible from Crest's whitening line and I adore their toothpaste. If call your orthodontist though and see if they have any suggestions :)

Question---and sorry to get a bit off topic: they have permanent retainers for top teeth? I only knew about permanent bottom retainers (I wasn't a candidate since I have an implant). Does it bother you at all? My top teeth are spreading, so I've been thinking I'd have to get braces again. Maybe a permanent retainer will stop the spreading.

@Stephanie, yes I have like a metal bar thing on my lower 6 teeth and I have a metal chain thing on the back of my upper 6 teeth. It definitely helps keep them in place.

I use Sensodyne whitening toothpaste. I also have a permanent retainer. To help it along, I use a Colgate Optic White pen that came in a toothbrush so the whitening stuff only goes on the front of the teeth and stays off my retainer.

I read that when your looking for toothpaste for whitening make sure the first ingredient is hydrated silica.
