I have dry skin and I've used lotions but those aren't helping much. Any helpful tips on how to get rid of dry skin?

Exfoliate, and get a really good moisturizer and drink more water, that's all I can really think to tell ya!

Staying hydrated should help a lot

I have dry skin as well & I'm an esthetician and love embryolisse lait creme concentrate. All of my clients who have tried it after my recommendation come back saying they love it as well. I use it as a primer before my makeup as well & it's amazing for that. Staying hydrated is of course always important no matter your skin type but it's especially important if your skin is also dehydrated as well as dry. Exfoliate, invest in a good day & night cream as well as eye cream. Use a hydrating masque twice a week & make sure you're using a hydrating primer as well as a foundation for dry skin. depending on your price range I can recommend a full skincare routine for your skins needs. Also do not use makeup remover wipes, most contain alcohol, & it's usually a pretty high level, which is very drying for your skin.

Rozberry's response is spot on in that thread as well. I have eczema so I've tried everything for severe dry skin & I have a lot of the same opinions as her. I love argan oil, a beauty blender is the best way to apply foundation, cerave is a great cleanser and it's sold at drugstores I also love dermalogica essential cream cleanser. & I saw she mentioned the embryolisse which is sold here on Beautylish

Thank you, Sarah. Skin conditions like ours have very specific needs that extend far beyond "dry" skin and so I feel for members who struggle with similar issues.

Yes they absolutely do, & it takes so much trial and error. I've tried so many products that have great reviews, ingredients, etc.and just don't work for me. it's definitely a struggle. I had atopic eczema on mg
y body growing up, it went away and has been gone since luckily but I still have redness on my face and dry parts in between my nose and on the sides of my nose because of seborrheic dermatitis and about a year ago got dyshidrotic eczema on my hands which is by far the worst & most painful skin condition I've experienced, I couldn't do facials since it's on the hands because it would get so irritated and even had trouble doing all my other services but I finally gave in & used a steroid cream & it's been completely gone for about 2 weeks which has never happened & have been using great products from a new dermatologist to keep it away. I definitely felt hopeless because nothing worked but I'm so relieved now I can actually focus on my career and not having to schedule everything around not irritating my hands too badly. I hope your psoriasis is manageable for you I know how difficult it can be!

I'm so sorry!! Steroid creams are lifesavers, although prolonged use thins the skin and causes strwtchmarks. It's especially rough when you are dealing with skin folds. I had it horribly growing up, but now, just my scalp and a few stubborn patches I have to medicate..thanks to a fabulous derm. The scars are there for certain. The upside is that it has improved with age...and resulted in me educating myself about skincare and ingredients. Knowledge is power for certain. I'm lucky to have found products that keep my complexion fresh, soft, and clear. So many helpful ladies here as well with terrific recommedations. Keep up hope and good luck on your journey to wellness!

Moisturize with cetaphil

This is what I do for my dry skin.
I use warm water (hot water damages your skin), I exfoliate using oatmeal (but don't exaggerate, once or twice a week should be enough, especially if you have sensitive skin), after all this I use a good organic coconut oil moisturizer (http://www.healthdevotion.com/2015/05/02/viva-labs-organic-extra-virgin-coconut-oil-review/) as it makes my skin feel and smell great.
