Okay so, regardless of how hard I try my makeup ALWAYS looks cakey. Even if I put the lightest amount of makeup it seems so dry and caked up. I have oily skin though :/ any recommendations on how to help this?

Try spraying and setting your face with a little fix+ by mac, or some witch hazel. both set your makeup and remove any powdery cakiness thats left over. Are you using a primer? moisturizer?

Yes I use both and I exfoliate so I don't know what the problem is and I will try the setting spray!

I used to have this problem...I found the only way the stop it was using a makeup wedge or sponge..smooth the foundation on your face with your fingers and pat it in with a wedge or sponge.

Either Jackie or Alma (sorry I forget who) once said that cakeyness is an application issue. What brushes or sponges are you using to apply it?

I use the real techniques buffing brush or the miracle along.

A cakey look is an application issue, and can sometimes be a result of your skin. What are you using to apply your foundation?

I had this problem as well but the trick is to use very thin and few layers. So the garnier bb cream is really good I'd apply it with a damp beauty blender so it stays thin, and I set it with the it cosmetics bye bye pores powder and a huge fluffy brush, it doesn't have to be the it cosmetics brush but I would highly recommend the heavenly lux jumbo powder brush, it really applies a thin layer of powder.

I always had this problem, but finally I figured out how to get a pretty full coverage look, but make it look exactly like skin. I use the Lancôme Teint Idole 24h, or revlon color stay foundation, but any foundation will work, (I tried the Estée Lauder double wear, and it works also, but you have to work super fast for it sets really fast so you need to figure out how your foundation will react) but apply it with your brush of choice (I use bare minerals precision face brush) then after, press your fingers all over your face and try to warm the foundation into the skin, then bounce a beauty blender over it picking up extra product, then again go over with your (clean) fingers! Now I only do that for special occasions, but for everyday, I just apply my foundation as a concealer, applying to my cheeks, nose, and chin (problem areas) with my fingers in little light layers and you can't even tell that I have foundation on. And if you want to take it to the next level, apply a setting spray after foundation, after concealer, then after your powder. I know this can get obsessive (all these steps can) but it's definitely worth it. :)

I used to have the same problem, but I now use a beauty blender on my concealer to thin it out, and spray fix+ to set my makeup and it does wonders!
