How can you tell if your skin tone is warm or cool or neutral?
here's a picture of my face without foundation, I really don't know

There are multiple ways to determine your skin tone.

Jewelry:
If silver jewelry flatters your skin more then you're cool toned, if gold flatters you more then you're warm toned, and if both suit you then you're neutral.

Veins:
If the veins in your wrist appear blue then you're cool toned, if they appear green then you're warm toned, and if you can't tell/they look blue and green then you're neutral.

Tanning and Burning:
If you burn more than you tan then you're cool toned, if you tan more than you burn then you're warm toned, and if you tan and burn about equally then you're neutral.

I find your skin to be neutral toned.

Makeupblush, when your purchasing foundations, concealers, or other face products, you'll want to get the shade as close a match as possible to your skin tone of course, and knowing your undertones really helps with that. For example, the Estée Lauder and Lancôme foundations go by undertone as well as overall shade (as do other high end face products). You'll find that some of the undertones are more pink based, some are more yellow/golden based, and the others are neutral :)

And I have yellow skin with purple veins and purple dark circles... these methods are really sloppy!

From what I know -
cool means you have blue or purple veins on your wrist. your skin will usually have pink tones, silver jewelry flatters your skintone.

Warm means you have green or olive veins on your wrist. Your skin will usually have yellow tones, gold jewelry flatters your skintone.

neutral means blue-green/ or you can't tell what color the veins are, gold and silver jewelry flatters your skintone.
also I have neutral undertones.

So, cool toned foundation makes me look gray. Silver looks best and as well as cool toned eye shadows. However my skin is clearly yellow and not pink... I think you should try different foundations and see what makes you look best...

Nathalie - unfortunately sometimes you can be neutral but lean towards certain colors for certain things. I'm neutral, silver jewelry looks great as does gold with my skin, but silver eyeshadow makes me look dead.
I think you'd be neutral with more yellow toned skin. Your skin can look different in different months too, when I tan I look very warm and olive toned, but it's still neutral underneath the tan.

Just to clear up some confusion here, warm means yellow and cool means pink.

Nathalie, you're face may be more warm toned compared to your body.
I was working in a client and her neck and arms were warm toned but her face and chest were cool toned.

Warm means anything from yellow, golden(peachy, and kind of orange.

Cool tone means pink to red.

Although MAC used the older system (which makes more sense)

Where cool is yellow/olive

And warm is pink/red.
Their shades(W,NW,N,NC and C) have a letter (s) for tone and number for depth of color

If you look at a color wheel it makes sense since warm colors are red, orange and yellow.

Cool colors are green, blue and purple.

On the color wheel, yellow is the closest to a cool tone because yellow goes into green (olive skin and that's the closest to a a cool toned color)

But now companies are starting to pull away from the term warm and cool from foundations and are using the Pantone system where it just states the undertone like pink, yellow or neutral.
