Retinol based products are highly effective in wrinkle reduction and prevention. Look for moisturizers with ceraminds, peptides...hyaluronic eye cream to keep dryness at bay. Aha and Bha peels are also fab for brightening, smoothing and evening out texture. You need to lay off Retinol for a a few days before peels...and be sure to keep Jojoba oil and a gentle, hydrating wash like CeraVe on hand. SPF broad spectrum sunscreen, a healthy diet, and a vitamin C serum with ascorbic acid is a bonus. Hope that helps.

Do be carefully with the sun screen you use. Preventing wrinkles is nothing if you're feeding your skin poison.
Anything above 50SPF is technically considered maxed out and useless, a lot of countries don't even allow companies to advertise performance above 50SPF as it has been found false. 80% of commercial sunscreens contain oxybenzone, “a hormone-disrupting sunscreen filter” and 33% contain retinyl palmitate, “a form of vitamin A linked to skin damage”. Here's another fun common ingredient. Oxybenzone is part of a class of aromatic ketones called benzophenones and is used in many sunscreens, hair sprays, cosmetics and nail polishes. It is also used in plastics to absorb ultraviolet light. With its use in sunscreen as a broad-spectrum UVB and and short-wave UVA protector, it is acts as a endocrine disruptor. Endocrine disruptors interfere with the hormone system, potentially causing cancer, birth defects and developmental disorders. If you look at the effects of oxybenzone on juvenile rainbow trout those samples exposed to the ketone produced a decreased number of eggs, a smaller percentage of fertilized eggs and a smaller percentage of hatched eggs. Oxybenzone acts like estrogen in the body and alters sperm production in males. It is also associated with endometriosis in women and may cause fertility problems. Oxybenzone is also detected in nearly every American and found in mothers’ milk.Retinyl palmitate is a form of vitamin A used in sunscreens and has been found to accelerate cancer in high doses applied. A You.S. gstudy found that it “may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions when applied to the skin in the presence of sunlight.”
Vitamin A, or Retinol, is also used in many skin products that promise to slow the signs of aging, but it's mostly a controversy as an ingredient in sunscreen is due to its effects when exposed to sunlight. The harmful effects of retinyl palmitate include brittle nails, hair loss, liver damage, osteoporosis. Some health autheorities have also suggested for women pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid any products with vitamin A due to the skeletal birth defects it may cause.

I also recommend looking into red light therapy! It uses the red light spectrum to stimulate the skins collagen and elastin allowing it to product more. Collagen and elastin are what work as the pillars and plumpers of our skin to give it that supple and wrinkle free look.
It is not something available every where but search around and see if anywhere offers it. It is available usually in the form of a "tanning bed" without the UV exposure as they're different bulbs completely.

Are there any specific moisturizers daily and night you recommend Brittany and washes?? I need a strong under eye moisturizer but I don't know what to use rozberry, I don't use foundation I just wash my face and use spf moisturizer and then use a stronger night moisturizer w the retinal at night.

Prescription retinol (tretinoin) is stronger than 'retinol' (drugstore version)
If a drugstore retinol product uses.1% then it's only as strong as the.25% tretinoin cream.
Tretinoin is 4x stronger than the drugstore stuff.

With that, it takes time. With tretinoin it takes 6 months to see a difference with your texture I believe it's due to the collagen turnover or something I forgot.


As with cleansers use a simple soap free one like cetaphil. I think cerave and eucerin have good moisturizers and sunscreens and are commonly given to patients by dermatologists.
Cerave uses ceramides in some of their moisturizers which is good for the skin.

They also have moisturizers with sunscreen but remember that sunscreen has to be reapplied every few hours.

I know Shiseido has a powder foundation that has SPF in it so that's a good route for the summer

If you've built up a tolerance and it's not super irritated then it's okay to use it every night. If it's super dry you could mix it with an eye cream or skip a night on tretinoin.

I started using the 1% (a month now) and have noticed my skin is less oily and just seems smoother but my (barely noticeable) smile lines look the same.

As for eye creams I haven't used any, just the tretinoin gel.
I just use moisturizer cause I've read that eye cream is just the same thing but sold as "eye cream"

If you're skin is flaky but not super sensitive you can surely use an exfoliator especially if you've become used to the product.

I'm still trying out moisturizers.
I've been using cetaphil but it's not moisturizing enough, used different stuff but I may just try cerave

I suggest alternating between Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream and Tarte's Maracuja. In your downtime, slather on the jojoba. I use prescription retinol and my eyes are never dry. I also use CeraVe and Purity wash..removing eye make up with Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil, A vitamin C serum gives me a brighter, fresher face. Right before makeup, I wash with Philosophy Microdelivery. CeraVe makes a SPF 35 and 50 Broad Spectrum sunscreen. I would avoid powder beneath the eyes. Occassionally, I use a lightly dusted fan brush and Mineral Veil. Your foundation and concealer may add to dryness also.

Karly, I have to agree with Brittany...one of the products she identified on her list that I absolutely swear by is NIA24. This skin care line will address ALL of the concerns you raised. You will definitely see an improvement in your skin tone, texture and clarity. Fine lines and wrinkles also diminish with continued use of this product. Here's what I would recommend (I use this myself):

1) Gentle Cleansing Cream; 2) Physical Cleansing Scrub; 3) Intensive Retinol Repair; 4) Skin Strengthening Complex (day moisturizer); 5) Intensive Recovery Complex (night cream) and 6) UVA/UVB Sunscreen with SPF 30. They also have an eye cream, but if you use the other products, you don't need it. If you have a Clarisonic skin care brush, use it! I use the sensitive skin brush -- 2 or 3 times a week.

The only thing this line doesn't carry is a Vitamin C Serum. I like VIDI C20 Anti-Aging Serum. I have used these products for years. I constantly get compliments on my skin. You can't go wrong with this product line. You'll love it.

If you decide to purchase it, I wouldn't purchase it on the NIA24 website. I use lovelyskin.com as they always have a discount.

Ms. Jacqueline, I currently use Mario Badescu C serum...and I use Philosophy Turbo Booster in my favorite creams as directed. I have tried the Dragon Blood, but only samples, which were nice. I'm a,fan of the Roth Line..although I favor Dr. Brandt and Jart with certain products. I was using Lumene's caplets, and I much preferred those for a smooth punch of C.

Robbery - (and anyone else who knows) to get prescription retinol, who do you usually go to and is there any requirements? I live in Canada so I know the rules will be a bit different. But my family on both sides have early onset eye wrinkles and at 18 my under eyes are very wrinkly already lol.
But I'd rather spend the money on real retinol than products that it's probably diluted and I'm paying out of pocket rather than my health spendings account.

I am prescribed it by my derm for medicinal reasons...I'm just fortunate that it has added benefits of anti aging. I'm low dose, but regimented and use it as part of my routine without fail. Glow by Dr. Brandt is made with 2% Retinol...which is far higher than my own acript. I have used it and loved it, but it must be countered with it's partner serum to calm the skin...and I am very careful with any retinol products...never doubling up and ceasing about a week prior to exfoliation peels, never using on damp skin, moisturizer and broad spectrum sunscreen..teeny tiny amounts of the retinol..which is a tamer version of retinonic acid...but still incredibly powerful. I think Nuetrogena's rap wrinkle repair is equal to a script..only better...as they have an entire line for every need with sunscreen in the product. They have an amazing eye care line that will definitely show results. I'd look into those 2...and I know some here ladies here love RoC...which has proven itself stable and impressive with results. Vitamin D, C and A as well as Omegas..are in my view..equally important. It really is about proper use and worth researching prior to use.
