I look at these massive makeup collections and I wonder when should I stop? I mean how much makeup is too much when your teaching yourself? I would love to have alot of choices and items to mix and match and play with. But is there a limit when you should cut it off? Of course if you love makeup like I do, then enough is never enough. ;)......... Just wondering . How much do you need to be satisfied for a while? Brushes, shadows, foundations, EVERYTHING!

My problem is, I don't have a makeup limit. Whenever I stop buying, I experiment with my collection & end up falling in love with a specific type of product & will need MORE of that. It's a never ending cycle. (Luxury powder puffs are my obsession right now)
I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with my collection until I own an HG product for everything I use. I don't want to use 'just ok' products - I want to use amazing ones! It's so sad. lol

Im with you on that Andrea because the more you invest the better your makeup will look! Sometimes I find myself not using the things I have and I have to kind of make myself use it! Maybee I should experiment more with what I have! I just dont want to go overboard and buy too much shit that I will only use once, and dump that when I find something better.....

I agree! The worst is when I completely abandon certain products bc I realized the color of eyeshadow or blush doesn't look great on my skin tone. I want to use it up so it wont go to waste, but I wont be the happiest with the way I look. It's a dilemma! XD

My opinion on massive collections is this....if one can afford it and able to make space for it all then go for it. My breaking point is coming very close because I'm running out of space and its spilled over into my MIL house where I spend a lot of my free time. Right now I'm pretty content with what I have now but as always I want the newest and latest goodie whenever my hubby comes home with his industry mags and press releases. I don't think us beauty junkies are ever completely content. We want to play with it all.lol

I don't have a lot of space for a huge collection and if I don't think that certain colors look nice on me and I can't find a way to use it then I get rid of it. I love to try new things so I think it will never end.

I agree with the posts here. If you can afford it and have a place to store it then go for it. I wish beautylish would have a makeup swap board so we could swap with one another. Makeupalley.com has one but they have not allowed new subscribers in ages.

i definitely set my limit. im kind of new to makeup in terms of medium to full coverage so i try to switch it up when it comes to buying products(to practice especially) Like i had to stop going to mac everytime i wanted something. i go to drugstores for mascaras, shadows, and blushes. no big deal. and since my mac foundations, concealors, and powders last me forever ill still shop @ mac. and its better for my skin.

I don't necessarily have a limit. I know what I like and expand on that. Of course, we all run out of room at one point, but it gives more opportunity to find different storage solutions. It's always been a dream of mine to have a room dedicated to makeup when I get a home of my own. I research almost every product I buy before I get it to see if I like it. I've bought almost all of my own makeup in the last year and it doesn't have to be a lot, just a preference.

I'm on a year no buy program. There are some things I believe: Make Up is not an investiment the products loose value and have expiration dates 2. I'm not a guru or Christine from Temptalia 3. Having a lot of make up doesn't mean I'll apply it better 4. I haven't bought make up for a whole year and my inventory hasn't lowered consideranbly. Everyone knows what's good for themselves. Personally I won't increase my current collection since I have only 2 eyes, 2 cheeks, 1 mouth on 1 face. I'm not a professional it's a hobbie. I prefer to save the money for buying a house or for travelling abroad. Make Up can seem cheap but I invite you to do the math and see how much you've spent on your current collections and what you could do with the money. I did it and I could purchase a nice car with I have spent in make up and is now storaged

I agree with you all! Its hard to have a limit! Me myself I dream of a room specifically full of makeup, almost like a store. But then I wonder also, is it worth it? Will I use it all? Lol neverending questions. But as of right now I want triple what I have im nowhere near I would like to be. But I would rather get the things I need in my life and for my children before I spend all my ends on makeup! Its a 50/50 thing I guess!

Makeup collections never stop because the companies just keep coming out with more! Its just better to ask yourself if you're really going to use it or buy it just to have it.
