I've been doing makeup (only on myself, not for others) for around two years now. I now wear it everyday. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for makeup brush purchases. At the moment I don't own any brushes. I am looking for good quality, but not too expensive.
As for the types of brushes, I am looking for good brushes to use for eye makeup, foundation application, and blush/contour. Thank you in advance!

I recommend Real Technique Brushes. I have been a "professional" for a long time but I never found brushes that worked for me. These brushes are really cheap, good quality, and come in multiple colors. Makeup goes on so smooth and flawless, almost as if it was airbrushed. My only tip is to clean them often because it will alter how the makeup looks if they are dirty. I usually get them at Walmart. Hope I helped. :)

Personally the cheap brushes that I like are all Sephora brand. They're really nice for the price, I think. I've had all of mine for around 6 years now and they're still in good condition and I find that they function really nicely. I do NOT at all recommend Real Techniques. They are crappy, they pick up so so so much product and do not deposit it upon the face, they are scratchy and dense and not at all ideal, especially the eye brushes which I find to be worse than all of the other ones.

I highly suggest the Real Techniques Starter Kit and the Core Collection. One is a set of eye brushes and the other is a set of face brushes. They're great quality and affordable (:

Face brushes: I love real techniques. they are so soft and apply makeup beautifully. they are pretty affordable and you can find them at target.
eye brushes: I love eco tools and elf. eco tools is around the same prepuce range as real techniques and are really soft and easy to use. elf has some really good eye brushes as well. they are soft and very very affordable. I'd definitely steer away from there face brushes though.
foundation: I like using beauty blenders. you can find dupes from real techniques or even the up and up brand at target is nice!

I agree with Real Techniques! I have the Expert Face Brush and the Blush brush and I absolutely adore them, I will definitely be buying more. I've had no problems with shedding or when I've washed them. They're so soft and a really good price :) I love BareMinerals brushes too, my personal favourites are the Max Coverage Concealer brush (it is THE most perfect eyeshadow brush!) and the face brush, in which I have 2!. I love the Laura Geller retractable kabuki brush too.

If you want cheap cheap try elf! Most of their brushes are about $1-$5, and they're a faulty good quality for the price. I have thief foundation brush and a few of their eye brushes
