I am currently on medication that one of the biggest side effects is dryness. Like everywhere. My skin, hair, eyes, mouth etc. I am coming off of it, but will still be on it for a month or so.

But anyways, I've always had dry sensitive skin, but nothing like this. I'm drinking so much water and putting lotion and moisturizer on every few hours, its so dry and flaky. I've been exfoliating every day with a gentle cloth to get rid of flaking. I really need a new primer and foundation. I was using the flower cosmetics full coverage bb cream and I had a mini laura Mercier hydrating primer, but I've run out of that.

What drugstore primer and foundation do you recommend? I'm on a tight budget, like 20-30$ altogether for this but nothing I have has been working. It just looks so bad and caked. I also can't get elf or nyx anywhere near me :(

I want something that has at least medium coverage, or at least buildable coverage with a dewy or luminous finish. Anything that hides the dryness and dullness of my face right now lol.

What do you use, or recommend? Or if you have oily skin, what do you use so I know to stay away from it so it doesn't dry me out more?

The medication is most likely causing your skin to become dehydrated. Dry skin and dehydrated skin are different and it's important to understand the difference to help 'fix' the issue. I know you're asking for foundation and primer but what products are you using on your face now? When you use products that strip your skin it can cause your skin to become dehydrated or make the dehydration worse. When your protective barrier is stripped it makes it really hard to retain any moisture which may be why drinking lots of water and moisturizing isn't helping. For foundation and primer from a drugstore, sadly I don't have any suggestions that I love which is why I keep to high end face products but the loreal true match lumi is alright, it's not my favorite or the coverage I want but I do like the way it feels on my dry skin.

Sarah - it's just dry, I've already been to my dermatologist and he explained everything about dehydrated vs dry and we pinned it to just very dry, not dehydrated.
I'm fixing the problem by coming off the medication (I had a bad reaction to it which is why I have such dry skin, but withdrawals are really bad so I have to slowly come off it) but thank you for the advice.

I'd looooove to go higher end, the laura Mercier primer I had was amazing. And I know a lot of brands carry very moisturizing luminous foundations. But I'm so broke right now I cannot justify spending 100+ on foundation and primer for a long while.

I had some really bad dry patches this last winter and the only drugstore foundation I found that worked alright for me was the Maybelline Smooth and Dewy. It had decent coverage and blended easily into my skin. I have an oily t-zone and it did not hold up well there, but dry my cheeks loved this formula and it held up nicely throughout the day.
As for primers, I have only used high end ones and so I sadly don't have any recommendations for drugstore ones.

Rimmel match perfection would be a great foundation for dry skin. For primer rimmel lasting finish would be a good choice too.

Thanks! I'll have to check out what my shoppers drug mart has. They sometimes have very little selection when it comes to shades in Stock. Hopefully they have at least one of those in a shade that matches.
I so wish I had the money to go high end. I've been looking on sephora and found so many that the reviews are all "It's amazing for my super dry skin" and stuff lol. But I'd have to give up my transit pass and start to walk half way across the city everyday to justify paying 100+ on foundations right now lol.
