Can you contour your nose with eyehawdow if so how do you do it??
May 7, 2015
Brittany F.
Yes you can with a smaller brush and a taupe colour, though I find that it doesn't blend out as well as a contour powder does

Just make sure it's a matte cool toned brown

Make sure it's matte as well! No shimmer or glitter!

Keep in mind what a shadow color is, I'm not talking about eye shadow .

It's should be a matte, cool toned, grayish-brown shade. Personally I use the NYX HD Blush in Taupe and I take my MAC 217 brush and with only a little bit of product on my brush I go down the sides of my nose with sweeping motions and small circles to diffuse the line and make it look more like a shadow.

@alma Wait wait wait!! So is that the NYX TAUPE the one everyone here and everywhere is saying to contour with 😱 I've never seen it swatch but dam does that look pink 😐 that looks no where near grey toned I would not contour with that at all, I could imagine how pink it would look on some one very light skined 😓 thanks for the picture alma

Erin you seem to be taking this to another level cool your shelf it's not that big of a deal plus get your facts straight and stop raising up to 10 for something so minimal really. No one is trashing Nyx at all, keep calm and move along we here take in everything in stride as people just give info and comment so I'm calmly asking you to relax and smile ;) just so you know I'm a makeup artist and have been for years so myself as a professional is giving my insight on a product.I will also add if in fact I myself found a product that was just a dollar that could compare to a sculpting powder believe me I would jump to share it with everyone so once again breath relax and help people. :)

I'm pretty sure alma knows what she is talking about, knowing that she is a actual makeup artist.
hoola by benefit isn't orange at ALL.
have you ever used it before?
also, keep in mind hoola by benefit and the NYC bronzer are NOT meant to use for a contour anyways.
they are both bronzers.
just likd NYX "blush" in taupe isn't meant to contour either.
looking at those swatches alma, I wouldn't even think about contouring with NYX taupe blush. 😖

I didn't realize how pink NYX Taupe blush was, wow! Question, Alma, have you seen anyone actually use this to contour in person?!
May 8, 2015
Alma M.
Thanks ladies, calm conversation is so much better. Yes R T I have and it wasn't up to par when looking at her face it was bronze. So just to double check for myself I went and bought it as I usually do with things I read on Beautylish because I'm opened to all suggestions no matter the price just so I can compare and share my honest opinion. Some are hits and some are misses and that's OK. As for that blush when trying it on a face it looked close to a bronzer versus giving a sculpted look and it didn't have a seamless minimal melt to the skin finish like a sculpt does. Now that being said it's a pretty blush but not as a replacement to actually contour. I will however give a look into their contour palette to try just to compare because like I said before, I'm open to so many cosmetics. I've found some really great stuff at a lower end cost that actually can work like higher end product's but so far I have yet to find the lower end sculpting powder but I'm sure it's out there. :) I will never BS anyone about a product that's for sure.I'm all for trying anything but I'll always be truthful about it No question. Remember a sculpting powder fits all shades unless your skin tone is much deeper. If ever any have a chance please swatch the Kevyn powder and walk around the store and swatch all the other sets to compare.

If you have rosey undertones the taupe blush might work.? I honestly don't know, everyone's skin type is different.

Erin just cuz a product is cool doesn't mean its ment to contour you don't see me putting on a black eyeshadow and try to contour with it or a cool pink blush and put it on th hollows of my cheeks and contour with it, weather its high end or low end if a product says its to contour it should be ment for that but sadley thats not the case and a lot of companies are just scaming people and just cuz a high end product says contour doesnt mean that there right take the laura mercier contour palette for example and if the nyx taupe blush is marketed as a blush and is obviously pink then why are you passing it by as a "contour" product instead of sitting there trying to justify the taupe blush as a contour product cuz of the price make it your mission to find something that is at least close to a contouring product I'm a end this by saying yes the nyx taupe blush is terrible as to use as a contouring product that does not mean its bad as a blush which is what they made it for 😊

Any time RT :) Oh by the way that pic above is my arm with the swatches.

Alma but if I don't have a contour shade at all, using that NYX blush in Taupe would be still better than just using a bronzer to contour (I know it's a nono but there's nothing where I live and that NYX blush was supposed to be my salvation Dx)

I'm really confused now & thanks you for comments so can you use a really cheap eyeshawdow to contour (I.e cheeks) bcossss in UK we don't really have any of NYC makeup etccc inoe with the pic you sent the one that's a blush is more shady like and you CNT blend well. So can you use blush and eyehadpw for contour?

I'm a bit late but Alma, is it the regular studded blush or the HD blush? I use the HD one and it's no where near as pink as that one shows up. Personally, I really like it to contour, it's pretty cheap and it creates a shadow effect, but of course I suppose we all have different opinions on different products. But the HD Taupe blush is definitely worth a try, and yes eye shadows can contour, as long as it's the right shade and not shimmery.
