Belly buttons are hard. I had one migrate out of my body and another that ripped out because something I was carrying caught on it even with a shirt on. Mostly they're prone to migrating. But some girls have an okay time with them. They also take longer to heal than most piercings. Industrials I'm not too familiar on but I know they get a bad rep for something, it's either pain of migration as well but you run that risk with any piercing. Your body may naturally try and reject them. I usually stick to facial piercings but I've had my belly done 4-5x

I have both. I like them both, but if I had to choose only one I'd choose industrial. I kind of like a piercing I can show off, and I don't make a habit of going topless lol. And it seems like a navel piercing is easier to screw up. They can do it crooked, use too much skin, too little, it can migrate, etc. An industrial is pretty straight forward. Do keep in mind that an industrial is two piercings, not one. So if you're unable to sit through two piercings, go with the bellybutton piercing.

Ok thanks everyone & @Kailey L. How much did it hurt to get the industrial piercing?

I don't know if all piercers use this method, but mine pierced both with a 12 gauge needle (for a 14 gauge piercing) so... it definitely wasn't pleasant haha. But, in my opinion, cartilage doesn't hurt as much as more fleshy areas, so I really didn't find it to be too painful. The worst part is not being able to sleep on that side for a while, because THAT hurts. But the piercing itself wasn't too bad. Everyone's pain threshold is different though!

Belly piercing. I love mine and I can't even picture not having it anymore. Even seeing people without one now is just weird because it looks like something is missing. It's fun to switch it up and match bikinis or outfits if it's showing and what I love most is that you can hide it. So if you're going somewhere professional or don't want a person to see it, you put on a normal shirt and go about your day without having to take it out. They make lingerie or swimwear look a bit cuter/sexier and when you choose to take it out and let the hole close up, the scarring isn't bad and it's on your stomach in a small spot. which you won't be showing often.

Plus I've never had any problems with mine. I wash it when I'm in the shower with regular dial soap and it's never been infected. The only annoying thing that happens sometimes is if it gets caught on a clothing item such as high wasted jeans or lace shirts.

Belly button, I love mine, it takes awhile to heal but it's worth it. Just be sure not to pick at it, because it will get infected easily. Make sure to clean it at least twice a day for the first few months and after its pretty much healed you can get away with just once a day. Good luck choosing!

Oh and be careful when getting dressed! It will get caught on things a lot.

I personally haven't ever been an industrial piercing fan, it looks cool on other people but I'm weird with what piercings I like on myself haha. However, I do have both bottom and top of my belly done and I don't think I'll be taking them out anytime in the next 20 years or so haha, I like mine and have never had any issues, no rejection or anything either however my body is fairly prone to piercings so perhaps I'm lucky like that. I'd say go for the belly piercing :) it takes about the same time as your industrial will to fully heal and you will need to clean it twice daily with a salt saline solution or the solution your body piercer will (usually) direct you to buy. Even when you think you don't need to be cleaning it, try to clean it at least once daily for the first 3/4 months. The better you care for it the less likely it'll reject, don't tug on the piercing whilst cleaning, the less you move it the better :)

And definitely be careful about getting it caught on things like desks, towels and high waisted clothing, it hurts and isn't worth the extra months of extra caring for it if you happen to tear it, etc.
