I've only ever dyed my hair once before, and that was professionally done. I want to now dye my hair again but at home. I'm only going slightly darker than what my hair is now.
However tomorrow I will be going to the beach fishing and possibly swimming. I wanted to know if the dye would run while I'm swimming?

As long as you rinse the dye out properly after your dye it then it shouldn't run.

Depends on the dye you use and how long you swim for. My hair dye runs for normally 2 weeks or so after I get it done, but that's me and my hair dye. I don't recommend swimming after dying anyway, just because excess salt/chlorine (depending upon where you're swimming) isn't good for your hair and the more you have to wash it the more quickly your hair will fade.

I agree with Hannah.

As a colorist I do not recommend it at all. Wait a few days.

I don't recommend it, I went black one year and went swimming the next day, the water was purple from my dye and my white swimmers were stained lol! I'd personally just dye my hair the day after.
