Hey guys I've just bought a bunch of highlighting and contouring stuff as I want to get more into it and perfect it! I've been wearing makeup for 4 or 5 years now but I've never gotten into full blown highlighting and contouring! Any tips for someone whos reasonably good at makeup but not good at highlighting and contouring hahaha!

You should look on YouTube for tutorials!!😄

I would ask Alma or Jackie, they could give you a pretty exact "how to". All I will say is that you need to contour according to your face shape, and it needs to look natural, not incredibly overdone and cakey like many of the YT tutorials. You also want to use more grey like tones to contour with because they will mimic the shadows on your face the best. Don't use bronzer! I know Alma recommends Kevyn Aucoin's Sculpting Powder, and I know Jackie likes the Smashbox Contour Kit.

Great advice, MaKenzie :) I'd like to add that the contour shades should be matte, no shimmer (or it will look obvious and not like real shadows). Use the highlight shade to bring forward, the contour shade to recede certain areas of your face. And not everybody needs contouring of highlighting :)

I don't recommend using that picture, because there are no universal models or charts. Not everyone has the same face shape so not everyone can use the same guidelines.

It's very specific to your face and skin tone - some don't's that I've learned from miss Jacqueline and alma - is NEVER use bronzer to contour - less is more and the application should be specific to your faces natural contours - so play around with it and don't take the YouTube videos or pictorial tutorials to heart because you will have to find what works best for your face - it's not a one size fits all type of technique

I bought the brand seventeens contouring kit for light skin! Its a powder kit. I'm not really sure how to describe my face I'll add a photo.
