Just a weird little hair question.

Does anyone have any really good ways for getting the smell of cigarette smoke out of your hair? I don't smoke but my favorite place to dance allows smoking inside and the only way I've found to get the smell out is to wash my hair like 2-3 times with a clarifying shampoo which is really bad for my hair. I'm interested in alternatives if you guys have any :) thanks y'all!

Try baking soda w/ water.

Apparently if you put some baking soda in your shampoo it should come out in the first rinse. I've never tried it though just something I saw on Pinterest

Baking soda is harsh for hair.

Normally once a week or so. Once I'm old enough to not pay cover I'll probably go more often :) honestly I'm not sure I'd use baking soda on my hair, the clarifying shampoo on its own is incredibly harsh and it makes my hair fade really badly, I'd be afraid to put baking soda on my hair, for that reason. Unless anyone has any experience that suggests that it won't strip my color or my hair's moisture?

Hmm I looked up how baking soda could affect your hair and it does say it is pretty harsh for your hair, I take back what I said lol, don't use baking soda.

My hair smelled like smoke every time I went over to my brother in laws nanas house and I couldn't get it out for crap until I washed it, no sprays or dry shampoos with strong smells worked. I recently went over there while doing my heatless curls wet bun technique, which is just putting my hair up in a bun and letting it dry, and I noticed that when I left her house my hair didn't have any smoke smell to it, then when my hair was dry, I took it down and no smoke smell. I was shocked and happy lol. Maybe try washing your hair before you go there and put it in a wet bun and after your class is done, take it down and maybe there won't be a smell.

Oh no Shanae it's not a lessons kinda place it's a line dancing bar. I'm normally there from 10pm-3am or so, so my hair might dry while I'm there lol. Maybe next time I'll wash and braid it first and see how that goes :) thanks!

No seriously at this point anything that can help I'll try! I'm so sick of getting home at 3 in the morning and having to immediately shower. It's a pain, so I'm really glad to hear any suggestions. And also Ramsha, I'll use baking soda as the very very last of my resorts :)

Lol, don't tempt me I might just try it. I'm going a little insane about this, actually. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke more than almost anything else, it's just so horrible and impossible to get rid of...

I completely understand. I try to avoid going to his nanas house as much as I possibly can, don't get me wrong, she's an amazing woman but the smoke gets unbearable at times.

Omg Hannah, I hateeeee cigarette smell. I don't hang out with people who smoke (not because I refuse to, I just don't have any close friends who do lol) but when I come across someone or I go somewhere. I swear I can be there 2 minutes and I smell the smoke untill I wash. Your situation is more intense because youre obviously there for a long time... It may sound odd but maybe shampoo, then dry, then mask, then wash and condition...? Maybe the mask will not only moisterize but also take away the smell since its getting into the pores??

I used to have the same problem with my favorite place to go, back in the day when I went. So...I usually showered before you went and conditioned to seal in everything and as it WAs drying I put in a leave in conditioner and styling treatment, my heat protectant, and when it was almost dry I did my perfume in two places... Top and bottom. It helped me :) and I was also driving back with my windows down haha.

Ehh, hair mist perfumes? I know how you feel I don't smoke either but it's horrible when your hair smells like 1000 cigarettes and a hair perfume was the only thing that masked it or essential oil works too

This pool room I use to like going to was really smoky and Organix Cherry Blossom Shampoo would get out all the smoke. My husband would massage my scalp and hair for five minutes and rinse it very good, then a hair mask. Doing that worked the best for me.

I'm a smoker and I hate the smell of smoke in my hair😂 I agree putting your hair in a bun works really good after you washed it. I also heard some amazing things about the TIGI bedhead afterparty as a smoke remover... I just bought it yesterday so I will try it out and let you know :)
