My profile pic is my red hair done at the salon. It is a bright red, almost a little orangy in certain lights, pinky red in others. I want a slightly darker but still vivrant reddish magenta color like this pic I attached.

I want to use Special Effects to refresh my hair since I've heard so many good things about that dye but looks like I'll have to mix 2 colors since they don't have an exact color that I want.

What colors should I use in Special Effects to get this color of the attached pic? Thanks!

All I can say is you're probably going to have to dye it again.

You can mix fuschia with your red and maybe even a lil tiny bit of purple.it'll give you a reddy purple.

Hi Erica! I use Special Effects too, it's great isn't it? I just darkened mine too, lol! I went from a mix of nuclear Red and Candy Apple Red to Using Blood Red and Nuclear red, and I find Blood Red is a much more brown red. I also have a bottle of Burgundy wine, which I find to be very, very strong- I'm not crazy about it, actually. I should have listened to the guy at SFX, and the gal at the shop, they both said Candy Apple and to mix in Pimpin Purple to make it more pinky purple! I just thought that sounded odd, but now I know that would be perfect to achieve that beautiful color with the blunt bang! Your color is lovely and I'm sure you enjoy it, besides the mess!😜 Here's my hair color video, (I doth know or think you probably need it, but just in case!) I'd love to hear and see what you do!!😁.  http://youtu.be/jbclkAU4_C8.

Erica, hehe, always weird talking to.someone with the same name:-P. I honestly don't do much...I bleach the roots once a month and touch up with my special effects or manic panic around every second week or whenever it needs it. I was using sfx nuclear red and loreal hilights in red but still find nothing compares to bleaching your roots first. when I used the loreal hicolor hilights it was still a brownish color. I wasn't very impressed and am kinda sad now that I ordered so many tubes as I probably won't be using them. I just did a root touch up yesterday with the splat bleach and let me tell Ya, that stuff means business. I've never had better results getting my dark brown roots to almost white in one hour. anyway, so after I did the roots I uses special effects nuclear red and the splat rose fetish. it is still red but more of a cherry pink red which I like more.

Thank you ladies! Just ordered some Special Effects so can't wait to refresh with that.

I think I might try Manic Panic as well just to compare. What colors should I get in Manic Panic to darken it a little to those 2 pics?

Haha Erica, I agree!😁 I really appreciate your results and opinions. I adore my red, but alas, I may need to go "normal" again- such as that adjusting fits me!😜 I will enjoy every last bleed mark until then...
Kim!! I think you'll love your hair!! From what I hear, SPX just lasts the longest, but red, is red, a labor of love lol!! Can't wait to see!!😁💋
